Masse Mensch Material is an album of broad scope even as it is heavily steeped in an avant-garde style.  It begins with a desolate sound of space that is both eerie and disconsolate before the war-like sound of percussion launches the next song. But don’t let this confuse you as this new album by Jerome Reuter is an attractive mix of catchy rhythmic pop and ambience in a Gothic mode, stirred with bits of nightmarish realities.

Jerome Reuter started Rome in 2005 to further voice his thoughts of cruelties, confusion, strained faith, and fears of humanity.  All in all, a shame of humankind, and a sad anger for our inability to evolve in a graceful manner is the current of the lyrics, carried long by simple but engaging melodies.  You can just as well grasp the sense of servitude that we have fallen under, unwilling to break free.

Masse Mensch Material is a mirror reflection with a fresh musical sound.  The words are strong and the intimations bring to mind a dark, unraveling fabric, but the album in its entirety is a compelling piece of Gothic lament.
