Anyone who has heard of Dead Can Dance will not be surprised by the striking and haunting beauty that is the soul of this album by Lisa Gerrard and Patrick Cassidy. The demise of DCD had deprived the world of the gothic-painted spirituality that was the hallmark of the band but it was only a matter of time before the two components would strike out on their own and bring more uniqueness to the style that it begat years earlier. Although Cassidy has had no involvement with DCD, this pairing doesn't suffer for that fact.

It's been 5 years since the release of Gerrard's Duality and 9 years since The Mirror Pool. Although vocalist Lisa Gerrard has been quite busy with soundtrack contributions such as Whale Rider and Gladiator as well as other, less noticeable issues, she still manages to put out unmatched releases. However, there's nothing that is as noticeable as the talent of Lisa Gerrard...to the right audience.

Dead Can Dance produced albums of incredible depth and mysticism. Gerrard's latest album is a collaboration with Patrick Cassidy who has worked with Lisa Gerrard in the past (Gladiator soundtrack). Cassidy's work is well respected and highly emergent. It is especially compelling that these two talents merged to create the astounding and mesmerizing album know as Immortal Memory.

Immortal Memory contains 10 songs that delve into the realm of spirituality wrapped in a shroud of hypnotic music. With the ability of Gerrard to sing in multiple languages including Gaelic and ancient Aramaic, the credibility of this batch of songs rise above that of mere cover. Mix in a cinematic styled.

"Maranatha (Come Lord)" is a chant
