The Cursed
Room Full of Sinners

For those Black Sabbath fans from the early periods, The Cursed, a formation consisting of revered vocalist of Overkill, Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth, Dan Lorenzo from Hades, and two others, Mike Christi of Non-Fiction, and Job the Raver from Murder 1, provide a disc full of ‘70s underground metal styled music.

From its lead off track, “Sweeter” on through its final song, “Generate Her,” Room Full of Sinners does a good job of plying classic, time-tested metal music from a time that is more and more appreciated as the decades slip by.  With bands like early Black Sabbath, Motorhead, AC/DC, and others of their kind as a template, The Cursed does a decent job in not only slipping us into a time warp backwards, but in filling an album full of listenable metal tracks, some of which is good enough to find its way onto your PC or iPod for repeated listenings.

Ellsworth voice is still in form, if not a little reserved (perhaps after years of high throttling in Overkill), and the band understand the drills well enough.  Room Full of Sinners won’t be catalogued next to some of the great Sabbath albums and other metal classics but it wants to be heard.  If you like your early metal memories stimulated, The Cursed can do that.
