Bloodlet-Three Humid Nights in the Cypress Trees Reviewed by Duane Leyva on July 11, 2002 After a four-year hiatus, Bloodlet returns with "Three Humid Nights in the Cypress Trees", an inharmonious onslaught of paranoia, destruction, and morbid images. Scott Angelacos ignites the vocals with restrained screams and complex ominous lyrics along with Matt Easley and Art Legere on the axes and John Stewart on drums. Bloodlet draws you back for more and more; undeniably a album that will grow on you. The disc opens with "Learn to Fly: Ascent", a highly energetic onslaught that lets you know immediately that they're back from their four-year absence. My personal favorite was "I Have Such a Hard Time Making New Friends", a true anthem for the NRA. And the insomniac "Learn to Fly: Descent" is a total decibel breaker along with "Three Humid Nights in the Cypress Trees" which could possibly get some much needed air time on the radio. The albums concludes with "The Way of the Knife", a perplexed view of things to come. I hope that we do not have to wait another four years for their next album. Over all, Bloodlet has returned triumphantly with a well produced and well played album which, amazingly enough ,only took nine days to actually make.
