This six-song EP opens with a nice tone, setting the stage for the coming depth of curtainous beauty that encompasses this release. Beginning with the pain of a betrayal but pierced through with plotting revenge, the first song, "Forlorn" showcases the intrinsic passion that is Aenima. Once the stage is set, you become engulfed, not only by the wildly expansive vocals of the achingly beautiful Carmen., whose otherworldly beauty which she possesses makes the unearthly pain she sings of so much more.devastating.

Musically expansive, the band atmospherically weaves, into the web that is lyrically formed, the soundtrack that carries Carmen's exquisite voice to the heights of its despair. The musicians expertly create the moods that give life to each song.

While comparisons to other bands such as Dead Can Dance and Cocteau Twins are obvious in ways, those comparisons detract from the uniqueness of Aenima and become unfair. While such comparisons lead people to Aenima, they do not prepare the reader for the experience that awaits the listener.

For every plea that emanates from the sadness that seeps through on this recording there is an inherent struggle to maintain and move on. The words are reflective of relationships that are cruelly torn asunder.

The wonderful artistry that makes up this release hint at the coming full releases that will please fans. I, for one, look forward to a full release as a six-song EP leaves you with not only the feeling of awe but also with anticipation to what Aenima will gift us with next.

DISC

The disc is expertly recorded. Clean, expansive in its delivery, it shows the art of recording with a positive spin.

PACKAGING

No comment as I received a promo only disc.

THE FINAL SAY

Aenima's music sticks with you long after you have left the disc. The music rolls and follows you like a fog, encapsulating you with its beauty and its sprightly played material. I'm awaiting the next.
