Duane's Pit Stop

Write at dkleyva@musictap.net

Welcome back to another Duane’s Pit Stop. Unfortunately we here at MusicTAP sometimes have some serious PC and Network problems and I wasn’t able to post any posting for the last month, but we're all back up again. We've got all of the bugs and viruses all sorted out. F`N hackers!

As for this week's Duane’s Pit Stop, we have tons of info about your favorite Punk bands that may be heading into your neck of the woods as well as many new releases. I want to thank Art from The Shrooms who had emailed me and had mentioned that his band will be playing literally down the street from my house.

In the up and coming weeks and when those dates are all finalized I will be posting all that info as fast as possible. And with that in tow, let’s get to the news.

Indie Vision Tour - Yes that's right, the Indie Vision Tour is crashing into a town near you this summer. Dismissed will headline the very first Indie Vision Tour along with Next in Line, Forgotten Arrival, and introducing Pennylane. Josiah, and Joey's Loss will also be joining up on different dates. This will be an explosive, good time, and fun for all. If you would like this tour in your hometown venue, please contact josh@fivefromzion.com . It will be a 40 date tour spanning across the U.S.

For further info and to check out their brand new FORUM, go to www.indievisiontour.com.

Sonic Youth 'Nurses' New Album - Sonic Youth has wrapped work on its next album, "Sonic Youth Nurse." The set is due in June via DGC/Interscope and is the follow-up to 2002's "Murray Street." Like that album, it was recorded at the band's Echo Canyon studios in lower Manhattan and produced by the band with Jim O'Rourke.

According to a source, the record makes further inroads into the classic-rock sounds Sonic Youth explored on "Murray Street," which was recorded in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.

Sonic Youth has a handful of tour dates on the horizon, including a March 16 appearance at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, and a previously announced benefit concert April 30 at Smith College in Northampton, Mass. The group will also be on hand April 3 for the U.K.'s annual All Tomorrow's Parties festival.

As previously reported, the group is continuing work on its SYR series of experimental LP releases, with the next edition set to include a recording from the 2001 All Tomorrow's Parties fest. An expanded reissue of Sonic Youth's 1990 album "Goo" is also in the offing (Billboard).

Tours: Moneen April - June US Tour - Moneen will be touring the US from April to June with Northstar, The Fight, and Chronic Future. They'll also be playing the New Jersey Skate & Surf Fest on April 17. Other bands playing the festival include Taking Back Sunday, Finch, SOTY, Midtown, My Chemical Romance, and " Senses Fail." Click below for the complete dates.

Tiger Army Postpones European Tour - According to this story at Epitaph.com, Tiger Army (Hellcat) has had to cancel its March European Tour. The full press release is below:

Tiger Army is extremely sorry to announce that the European tour scheduled for March must be postponed until later in the year. As you may know, the band has been in the recording studio since late September preparing the new album "III: Ghost Tigers Rise." Due to unforeseen circumstances, the album is not complete and studio work must continue through the album's final deadline at the end of March. The release date has been pushed back twice already, to do so again is impossible for a number of reasons. The band will turn in the final record days before leaving on a two-month U.S. tour.

We apologize to the friends and fans in Europe who will be let down or inconvenienced by this news. We tried to find a way to make both things work, but as time wore on it became increasingly apparent that there was just no way to finish the record properly and do the European tour. It's not a decision we made lightly -- know that the band is just as disappointed as anyone not to be able to play in Europe! Make-up dates are in the process of being planned now. We appreciate your support & understanding despite this difficult situation and we WILL see you in Europe in 2004!

The Darkest Hour - "Darkest Hour is currently putting the finishing touches on the video for "Sadist Nation" from their latest record. The video footage is from the independent film Cloaca, which followed the band for a period of time on tour over the last year. Current plans are to release a "PG" and "not-so-PG" version of the video in the near future.

Billie Joe Goes Animated - Rolling Stone is reporting that Billie Joe Armstrong, singer of Green Day will provide the voice for Charles Manson in a stop-motion effects driven movie called "Live Freaky, Die Freaky." The movie is about a young man who interprets Helter Skelter (an account of Charles Manson's killing spree) as a biblical tome and insanity ensues from there. The movie also features Viggo Mortensen, Lars Fredrickson from Rancid, Davey Havok from AFI and Travis Barker from Blink-182 and will be released in the spring.

Give Some Love to antilove. - The boys of MA's antilove. Wrapped up production on their seven song newest effort last month. "Love Letters Starting with 'H'" and "Razorblades" has just been posted on the band's Pure Volume page, and they're absolutely amazing.

The Bronx – “Directly from their web site” Canadian company fuse TV has decided to start playing our video for false alarm...but there is a catch. Seems that a socialist country where voting doesn't matter, is encouraging internet dorks to vote for videos that they want to see. So - in lieu of this new voting parameter, underage children can "vote" for what "the kids" think is "hot". f@@k I love me some barbeque! Also - American company MTV has also decided to start playing our video, and here is the catch. There is no catch. In a nation that votes, we don’t have to vote for what the "kids" think is "hot shit". Damn I love me some kids. So - it's gonna be on head banger's ball on the 9th of this month. There is a link somewhere in here to Canadia, I can't figure out how to get it to work, nor do I have the patience. Voting starts on monday. Ok, click here to vote. Oven fresh just like mom used to make.

New Dead Poetic mp3 - With the release of the new mp3 for the song, "New Medicines," kids from coast to coast and overseas are freaking out about the new material from Dead Poetic. April 6th will see the release of the highly anticipated sophomore release, "New Medicines," on Tooth & Nail/Solid State. Check out the mp3 here!

Cave In Gets Busy On New Album - Modern rock act Cave In is at work on its second RCA album and fifth set overall. The group has done demo tracks in Boston with producer Andrew Schneider, who previously worked with Cave In on the 2002 "Tides of Tomorrow" EP. A post on the group's official Web site reports that seven new songs are in the offing, including "Prognosis," "Believe in Doubt," "The World Is in Your Way" and "Screaming in Your Sleep."

Cave In will unleash some of the material on a four-date tour that culminates March 17 at the Hydrahead Records showcase at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. "We'll also be debuting a number of brand new tunes to see how they feel on a stage as opposed to in the rehearsal space to break up the monotony," the site says.

Shows in Cleveland (March 13), Chicago (March 14) and Lawrence, Kan. (March 15) are also confirmed. At the Hydrahead South by Southwest show, the group will share the stage with Pelican, the Lot Six, the Bronx, and the Static Age, among others.

Cave In's next album will be the follow-up to 2003's "Antenna," which debuted at No. 6 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.

Here are Cave In's tour dates:

March 15: Lawrence, Kan. (Bottleneck)
March 17: Austin, Texas (Emo's / Hydrahead Records showcase)
