Hey, welcome back to another edition of Duane's Pit Stop. This week we have some great news for up and coming shows in your neck of the woods as well as big name Punk bands reforming and touring this Summer of 2004.
Jason from Boise, Idaho wanted to know what's a good internet Punk Radio station to listen to during the day. Well Jason, check out www.kxlu.com. This a damn good Punk Radio station out of Loyola Marymount College in California. They're on the air till 6 P.M. here in the West Coast. They pretty much keep it real with some good old and new Punk, and it hard to imagine that Carson Daley was once a DJ there. DAMN! Check it out and please let me know what your thoughts are, and with that in tow, let's get to the news.
Pixies Reunited - It's official The Pixies are back together and are going to be touring. While no dates have been announced they will be playing 2 weeks worth of dates (at least 11 stops) before heading to play Coachella in Indio, California. The band will then tour Europe between March 28th and July 10th including two dates opening for The Red Hot Chili Peppers (there were rumors of a Pixies/Peppers tour earlier this year but they were dismissed as little more than just that). Around the time of the new tour a Pixies greatest hits album entitled Wave of Mutilation: Best of the Pixies is supposed to be released along with a self titled DVD. In April Pixies frontman Frank Black is set to release a double disc solo album entitled Frank Black Francis.
Superchunk Are Crowding Up DVD - Having been part of the indie scene for more than 15 years and been cited as a reference for a plethora of bands including The Get Up Kids it's no surprise that Superchunk will be releasing a DVD that spans their massive career. Entitled Crowding Up Your Visual Field it will be out on Merge Records (owned by Superchunk frontman Mac McCaughan) and will contain a plethora of the bands music videos as well as live footage and a documentary of an overseas tour entiteld Quest For Sleep. Expect the DVD to drop February 17th.

Some new River City High tracks - River City High spent a few weeks on MCA before getting dropped in the great MCA massacre leaving most of the roster on Geffen and many people without jobs (and somehow Drive Thru completely unscathed). The band did record while on the label, and have posted three songs here for you to check out. Listening to them kind of makes you realize why they were dropped instead of rescued to Geffen... it screams "average."
The Haunted begin recording -
The Haunted will be heading into the studio on February 23rd to record their follow-up to One Kill Wonder. It's due out sometime this summer through an as-yet undecided label. They have completed their contractual obligations with Earache.

New Paint It Black guitarist - From paintitblack.org: "It's time to make this shit official: we'd like to formally announce the addition of our new permanent second guitarist, CPM (aka "1984" - as seen on this site's splash page). You've seen him bring his old school thrasher's energy to our live show on and off for almost a year, and we decided we'd be depriving the scene were we not to have him with us all the time. Watch out!" The band has also started on a new record and will be recording in the spring.
5o4's Final Eulogy - As promised, 5o4 Plan has issued an extended statement explaing the band's decision on ending its career. The Chicago five-piece narrates that their deteriorating dynamic and drive lended to the decision, and expounds that if they were to continue the band, it would be for the wrong reasons. The guys have expressed a desire to end 5o4 on a high note, and with that, the band's activities come to a close. Plans to play a final show are in order, but are yet to be announced. Also, future plans for the boys are in the works, but you know you want to hear it straight from the band themselves. 5o4Plan.net has the extended statement; it's worth the read. It's been fun boys.
