Hello and welcome back to another edition of Duane’s Pit Stop. This week I had received a ton of Punk News so I’m not going to be able to answer any questions at this time. But I will make it a point to respond to everyone by no later than this weekend. Also, keep the info coming to my email and I will post them as quick as I get them. La Bestiography - With previous members of
East L.A.
's Media Blitz, Kkleq Muzzil, Thee Undertakers, The Brat, & The Thrusters a band named La Bestia was formed. Not only does La Bestia carry the old school punk rawk roots that its members bring to this band, but they have also included some bluesy, psychosilly elements with a hint of wacked out Motorhead meets Revenge of the Nerds elements.
Vocalist Beast, previously from Media Blitz, has been described by onlookers as a combination of Alice from The Bags, Wendy O'Williams from The Plasmatics, Peter Brady on speed, & a Mexican Judy Tunuta who cruises down
Whittier Blvd
with loud and explosive punk rawk & roll tumultuous overdrive. Her exceeded unlimited attitude dishes out the lyrical portion with authority and tenacity and has shared bills with the likes of Naked Aggression, D.R.I., Dr. Know, Total Chaos, GreenJello & among others.
Guitar player Rudy Rudeness, previously from the old school East L.A. punk band The Brat, has also had his share of the late 70's to early 80's punk rock craze in sharing the stage with bands like X, The Blasters, Plugz, GoGos (when they were punk rock), Cramps, Adam Ant, Dead Kennedys, Flock of Seagulls, The Damned & others. His sound shattering guitar playing has that old school punk rawk force with unique influences that'll make anybody jump, dance, & ignite with excitement.
Furious George, drummer, has also teamed up with La Bestia to bring some of that intense tone that goes beyond any number of fearless early
Boston
&
New York
hardcore groups; previously from Media Blitz, Kkleq Muzzil, Thee Undertakers & The Thrusters (just to name a few), Furious George has brought that piercing drumming to La Bestia. He has toured the states and was last seen playing a show at the Warped Tour.
El Grifo, bass player, previously from an
East L.A.
band entitled Figure Head & previous to that, one of the original guitar players from The Thrusters, will leave anyone with mouths wide open. His dominant performance transcends an assaultive & angry passion to let all feel how he manipulates the stage with no holds bar.
La Bestia lashes it out live with dead serious intensity with its wacky four piece band members that bring that smutty & funny, yet crude magnitude of delirious & razor tight old school punk sound with added elements enough to raise eyebrows and scream "F##ckk".
La Bestia has realized that most people come to their shows to have a good time & not to put their audience through the agony of sitting them down through a bullshit show to watch some stupid cheezebag band that never even liked punk a month ago for the sake of trying to sell you his label's fake band concoction as "original" or "old school".
Take it from someone who was really there & has experienced the true "old-school" punk rock genealogy-............Not only does La Bestia add a new elemental approach to their music, but they have kept that special spark of furor & desperation that made the early
L.A.
punk groups so reviled.

HIT THE DECK - Straight from Strike First Records, Hit The Deck has finished recording "Look Alive" and it is on the way to West West Side Music to be mastered. Be prepared to be transported back to the days of the early 80's DC and NY Sunday matinees! Hit The Deck would be the perfect addition to any show that Minor Threat, Negative Approach, Gorilla Biscuits and Bold played back in the day! While they are not trying to re-live the "glory days" of hardcore, Hit The Deck vocalist Jordan Darby states "It would just be wrong for us to not take our musical cues from those amazing bands."
Here is a pre-production song for you to check out...

The Only Constant Is Change’ Out July 13th On Volcom Entertainment - Two-Disc, 46-Song Set Features 36 Rare, Unreleased, Live & B-Side Tracks From Acts Such As Pennywise, Rise Against, Death By Stereo, Piebald, Brazil And More
The Only Constant Is Change, the first Volcom Entertainment commercial compilation in over five years, is set for release on July 13th.
An epic two-disc set featuring 46 tracks (36 of which are either unreleased, live, out-of-print or B-sides) The Only Constant… serves as a diverse and up-to-the-minute sampling of the thriving independent music scene.
Represented here are such longstanding favorites as Pennywise, Death By Stereo, BigWig, Guttermouth, Turbonegro, Strung Out, Slightly Stoopid, Rise Against and theLINE, as well as emerging artists such as Vaux, Piebald, A Faith Called Chaos, Brazil, Maxeen, Single Frame, Scatter The Ashes and many more.
Officially founded in 1995 in Orange County California as an offshoot of the wildly-popular Volcom Clothing company, The Volcom Entertainment record label has always shared the same ideology as it’s parent company. During the company’s inception, the spirit was one of an enlightened state to support young creative thinking. A movement the company backed as "youth against establishment". Volcom was a family of people not willing to accept the suppression of the established ways.
Today, this Volcom thinking continues to flows through its art, music, films, athletes and clothing. "Youth against establishment” once again has come full circle and is a marked theme for the new generation. The Only Constant Is Change encompasses this spirit.
The packaging of The Only Constant Is Change also reflects this transformation and thought. It’s comprised of Volcom featured artist Scottie Daniels’ paintings that chronicle the progression of music recording technology and its ongoing effect in shaping the access and delivery of music over the last decade.
For the sixth year in a row, Volcom will host their very own stage on this summer’s Vans Warped Tour. This year’s stage will showcase several of the label’s latest signings, such as A Faith Called Chaos (whose new CD “Forgive Nothing” was released this week), Single Frame, Guttermouth, Arkham, Another Damn Disappointment and ASG, as well as a rotating lineup of acts such as Juliette and the Licks, Go Betty Go, The God Awfuls, Autopilot Off, Letter Kills, The F#ck-Ups, Fall Out Boy, Pulley, Don’t Look Down, Motion City Soundtrack, The Kinison, Fear Before The March of Flames and others.
