Hello...and welcome back to another Duane’s Pit Stop. As of late I have been getting some cool pictures from you readers for display on my weekly column. This week, Diana Harrington sent me some great art masterpieces all the way from Ontario, Canada. Thanks Diana! Bonnie from Queens, New York wanted to know just how did I ever get involved with MusicTAP. Well Bonnie, If you must know.. Matt Rowe, the Bastard Editor and owner of this site, has a rather large pool at his home that has always needed to be cleaned. He could never afford the full price of an adequate cleaning so every now and then he would come over to my produce stand in the middle of the median by his house and asked if he could borrow my brothers and I for a whole day. In return, he would just teach us a few syllables of English and give us some canned beans. Lo and behold, after so many years of canned beans and a vast vocabulary of the English language, not to mention a damn spanky clean pool, I have advanced to his Web Site. Cabron Pinche Juedo!
The album covers above this page are the albums I have been listening as of late. And with that in tow, lets get to this week Pit Stop.
RIP Face to Face – The fallowing information comes directly from the Face to Face web site: Back in '95 when this was new I guess I didn't have a clue I thought the world could change with the right song"
So sang Trever Keith on "Shoot the Moon". He could not have been more wrong. The world can change with the right song and has indeed been changed by Face To Face and their songs.
From their landmark debut, Don't Turn Away---generally considered one of the best punk rock albums of the 90's---through the ahead-of-its-time Ignorance Is Bliss, to their latest, How To Ruin Everything, Face To Face not only carried the torch passed to them from the likes of Bad Religion, The Adolescents and Social Distortion, they took it into brave new creative territory with each album, and in doing so influenced countless young punk bands who came after them. If this sounds like an obituary, well, it is. After nearly 13 years, 6 albums, and countless tours of the US and abroad, Face To Face is calling it quits. Founder and main songwriter Trever Keith has simply stated, " We've said what we had to say." Although Face to Face has endured their share of lineup changes, the decision to split has nothing to do with creative or personal differences. "This is a mutual split, we like to think that we have the good sense to know when a band has run it's course and for us the time has come. Besides, you never want to be the last one to leave the party" says Scott Shiflett, bassist and songwriter. Keith adds, "We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to our fans and supporters over the years, and we would like to extend our most heartfelt thanks."
Just because they are retiring from the road and studio does not mean the band won't be busy. Keith has started up a record label called Sound on Sound for which the band is in the process of compiling a career retrospective CD and companion DVD and Shiflett (with Keith) recently completed work on the second Viva Death album.
From all of here at MusicTAP, thanks for the damn good memories, Boys!

This record is a must hear if you ask me. If you haven’t heard it, you can download an MP3 for the song “Coma Girl”.
You can also see the video for “Coma Girl”.
Atmosphere - Their new album “Seven’s Travels” is catching a lot of ears lately. Atmosphere won the “New Faces” poll on MTV.com last week, so it looks like the “Trying To Find A Balance” video is going to get some run on MTV2. As soon as we know for sure, we’ll let you know…
If you don’t want to wait for MTV to play this video, hit this link to see it and a lot of other media on their title page.
Turbonegro - By now I’m sure you have heard that Turbonegro was on MTV’s new show “Viva La Bam” last week. If you haven’t heard, then let me tell you how cool it was. Bam and his cronies went to Philly to see Turbonegro perform and ended up bringing the band and the entire Philly crowd back to house for a special show in his living room. Hell, Don Vito was even there - now that is special in itself.
To see some video and a photo gallery from this hilarious episode of “Viva La Bam,” and be prepared to laugh your ass off.
Motion City Soundtrack - Their new video for “The Future Freaks Me Out” is up on the “Oven Fresh” section of the Fuse Music Channel’s website, and we need you to vote for it. Rufio Cancels Ltj Tour - In a letter to their fans Rufio regretfully announced today that they will not be joining Less Than Jake on their upcoming Fall tour due to a tragic personal event within one of the band members family. Rufio was scheduled to begin a U.S. tour with their friends, Less Than Jake, November 14th in San Francisco and continue through December 4th, ending in Atlanta. Dates also affected are scheduled headline dates in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio on December 6th, 7th and 8th.
Rufio are planning another US tour in early Spring 2004. Below is a letter they wrote to fans regarding their situation.
Due to a family tragedy, we need to cancel our tour dates with Less Than Jake. Jon has suffered a loss we cannot fathom and he needs to be at home to spend this time with his family. As his bandmates and brothers, we need to be here for him during this time.
Thank you so much for your understanding and support. If you'd like to send Jon a message, you can do so on our message board. ( www.rufeeoo.com/boards ) or ( www.rufiomusic.com )
As soon as we put together a plan for next year, we'll let you guys know. We can't thank you enough for your support through this past year and especially during this time when we need it the most.
