dkleyva@musictap.net
Hey, welcome back to another Pit Stop for this week. I have posted some funny pictures of the Red Bull Flugtag here in Santa Monica, CA. And I’m sure that you will be amused with the funny pics of the agony of defeat. This past week, I missed a golden opportunity to see The Exploited due to reasons out of my control and I couldn’t be more peeved. So to piss off my peers at work, I’m playing Punk all day at work. Those goofy inbred Bastards! With that in tow, let's do what we do best and Flugtag!
Good Charlotte, Green Day Get Ready - Good Charlotte Green Day, Sum 41, and several other punk rock bands will contribute songs to an album titled Rock Against Bush, which will be released through indie label Fat Wreck Chords next April or May. Green Day will donate a new song, but the other bands have not announced yet whether they'll submit new or previously released material.
Fat Wreck Chords president Fat Mike--who also sings for the punk band NOFX--says he wanted to use his influence in the punk rock world to campaign directly against George Bush, telling MTV.com, "I think it's our responsibility as citizens and musicians to do so. He's wrecking the country and the world...I'm planning on losing a lot of money, but I don't care. This is something I really believe in."
Two tours--one around the release of the album and the other closer to next year's presidential election--are also in the planning stages, most likely to consist of free concerts on college campuses. The tour will probably be named Punkvoter, after Fat Mike's political awareness organization.
Money from sales of the album will go into print and television ads encouraging young people to vote Bush out of the White House. Fat Mike told MTV.com he hopes to have "one or two famous punk rockers" appear in the ads.
Turbo A.C.'S to Tour Midwest Supporting Unsane - Gearhead Record's beloved Turbo A.C.'s have announced a Fall tour supporting NYC noise rock legends Unsane - surely one for the history books, don't miss out if you're in the area.

Gearhead Bands to Play the Las Vegas Rockaround - It's true; two of our best bands will be rockin' the Rockaround in Las Vegas the weekend of September 26th through the 28th. First The Riverboat Gamblers will hit the mainstage with all the subtlety of an atomic bomb on Friday the 26th at 11PM. Then the other greatest live band in the world The Dragons will bring down the roof (again) on Saturday the 27th at 11:15 PM, also on the mainstage. This is an awesome event featuring lots of our favorite bands like The Cynics, The Paladins and Untamed Youth.

New Bomb Turks Lp/cd Streets Tuesday October 7th - It's here, and it's almost too good to be true. "Switchblade Tongues, Butterknife Brains" is the latest masterpiece from punk 'n' roll legends the New Bomb Turks, and it's shipping to better stores everywhere as we speak. The first copies of the LP are on limited edition colored wax, which will also be available from us on the 7th if your local record store of choice is sold out. Hot Water Music - They are still out there and show no signs of coming home. These guys play until they are damn near dead...and that's no joke. One of them collapsed last year out on the road from exhaustion; that's enough to get my attention. See all of their latest tour dates at the link below.

The Vans Off the Wall Club Tour - is coming your way this fall, hitting 50 North American cities. The tour, sponsored by Vans and Alternative Press magazine features three legs with a rotating cast of bands. The first leg, which starts October 8 at the Glasshouse in Pomona, CA, features New York hardcore legends Sick of it All as the headliner with Boston street punks The Unseen and hardcore's newest rising star, Avenged Sevenfold in the support role.
Vans Records band Western Waste (discovered by Pennywise singer Jim Lindberg) will fill the #2 slot the entire tour, with several bands serving as openers, most notably Victory Records band Glasseater for the first 11 dates.
The second leg, which starts in Cleveland, OH on November 6, features ska-punk veterans The Suicide Machines, who have resurrected their career with their move to Side One Dummy Records. The second leg covers the Northeast, East coast and Florida. Avenged Sevenfold and The Unseen will also be serving as the support bands for the entire second leg.
For the third leg, Suicide Machines are staying on as headliner, while California's favorite gubernatorial candidate, Jack Grisham and TSOL hop on the tour along with punk-pop legends The Queers. After the five Texas dates, Epitaph's hottest punk/metal band, Death by Stereo joins the bill for the last week of West coast dates.
The Vans Off the Wall Club Tour, conceived and put together by Vans' Kurt Soto, Lucky Artist Booking's Denny Lake and TMG management's Tony Cooper, is patterned as a more intimate version of the Warped Tour--a chance for the fans to see the bands up close and personal in a club setting. The idea was to put together a bill that featured bands from different scenes, attracting a wide audience, but one that would still work musically, while remaining true to the Vans aesthetic --truly, "Off the Wall."
