Duane's Pit Stop Hey, welcome back to another weekly edition of the Old Pit Stop. In this week's edition we have tons of tour dates and some information on new release dates on various bands and this up and coming Tuesday this beaner is heading out to check out The Exploited show. I should have info on that for next week. With that in tow, lets do what we do best. But before we go “This one’s for Johnny” Your Chance To Take Action - The Take Action Tour has gotten completely off the ground and show are already happening all over the country. The tour, with a line-up including acts like Shai Hulud, Poison The Well, Eighteen Visions, Further Seems Forever, Dillinger Escape Plan and more, is not only an incredible show, but is of course happening for an equally as awesome reason. If you haven't been there yet, you should head over to the Take Action Tour homepage and find out all about the tour happenings. A tour diary, notes from the road, dates, compilation CD info, a public service announcement from PTW Ryan, info on the cause, and more are all up for grabs at the site. Head over and take a look, and catch the date when it rolls through your neck of the woods. Raised Fist Canadian Tour Update - Attention all hardcore fans! Raised Fist's Canadian tour date has been updated as follows: 09/19/2003 Carleton, Quebec See you there!!! LLR Updates From The Studio - LLR Recordings has annouced that their bands have been busy in the studio. Feeling Left Out is just about to finish pre-production for their newest EP which they will start recording come October. Labelmates The Academy are also putting the finishing touches on pre-production as they get ready to begin work on their debut EP for the label. They head into the studio October 11th. Watch for mp3s and news on these EPs in the future. For now, LLR has set up their own mp3.com page where you can get a taste of all the bands on the label including the aforementioned and more. Hit this link to get to the page. Pennywise Rises From The Ashes - So, what happens when you throw Pennywise a record release party and give Brett a digital camera? Yes, a Pennywise photo gallery from the event. Epitaph has a slew of photos posted from the party, if you're curious to check them out, take a look here. The band is working hard in support of their newest record, From The Ashes. If you haven't yet checked out stuff from the new album, click here to listen to "Falling Down." Dr. Know Splits Up - The infamous Dr. Know is breaking up. Yes, the 1980s Nardcore band is breaking up for the second time, but this time it's for good. Brandon Cruz did not explain why he decided to break up the band, but the band does have an unreleased album they may be coaxed into selling. Brandon Cruz made headlines earlier this year when he quit Dead Kennedys in order to focus on Dr. Know. So much for that plan. Zwan Calls It A Day - Billy Corgan's follow up to The Smashing Pumpkins has decided to disband. Corgan explained that the band didn't have a family feeling, that it was more like a working relationship. He felt that it wasn't worth the effort without that feeling. Zwan released one album and Billy Corgan implied that he intends to persue a solo career. Hey Mercedes Have Lost Control -Head over to the Vagrant web site to hear 3 new tracks off the upcoming album from Hey Mercedes, Loses Control. If you like what you hear you can pre-order yourself a copy of the album, too. Shai Hulud Breaking Up? - Shai Hulud are reportedly planning to call it quits. It appears as though band vocalist Geert Van der Velde's has decided to leave the group, causing the split. One last show, likely with original vocalist Chad Gilbert fronting the band. Autopilot Off / Lost City Angels Tour - Autopilot Off are rocking out on the road with Lost City Angels. Dates are listed below, but it doesn't stop there! Autopilot Off will continue touring, playing dates with AFI while Lost City Angels will be doing Skatefest 2003, and then doing shows with The Pietasters, H2O, and the Street Dogs. 09.18 - Manhattan, NH Bomb Shelter

The long-awaited new album from The Early November, "The Room's Too Cold" is now available for presale purchase from the Drive-Thru store. Hot Hot Heat Working On New Album - Canadian rockers Hot Hot Heat will head home to Victoria, British Columbia, after a fall tour to work on the follow-up to 2002's Make Up the Breakdown. This is the end of this period of touring," frontman Steve Bays says. "We want some new songs." Shows on the band's current tour, which kicked off last night in Las Vegas, will likely include at least one new one, "You're Making Such a Mess." "People get into it the first time they hear it," Bays says. "It's really bizarre sounding, so it draws people in right away." Another new track, currently untitled, heads off in a different direction from the poppy, disco-punk sound of Breakdown. "It's got a Native American feel," says drummer Paul Hawley. "It's got like a jungle, Oriental thing going on," adds Bays. "When we play it, it puts me in a weird mood. Any time anything affects your mood, that's a really good thing." The band plans to hit the studio in the spring and release the album by next summer. "I don't want another two-year break between records," Hawley says. "We get off on being at home and doing a new song." Hot Hot Heat tour dates: 9/17: Tempe, Nita's Hideaway The Distillers European Dates Announced - The Distillers are to play a trio of UK shows following the release of their new album Coral Fang. The record, the band's third, is out on October 14. The first single to be taken from the Gil Norton-produced LP will be 'Drain The Blood', out on October 27. The video was directed by the collective Tronic Studios (www.tronicstudios.com), who are best known for their work in the commercial world where they are regarded as industry innovators. “Hold Your Breath” is expected to begin airing on video channels nationwide after the release of The Instinct on October 28. Expect the CD out in the first bit of 2004. In other Punchline happenings, they will be playing September 19th in Lancaster, PA at Field Of Screams with WWE Superstar Wrestler Booker T at 6:00 pm, as well as at the following locations: 09.15 The Downtown in Farmingdale, NY Bayside to Record - Long Island-based Bayside have finalized recording plans and are excited to announce that they will enter Phase Studio in College Park, Maryland on October 7th to record their new album, "Sirens and Condolences". Producer J. Robbins, known for his work with Jawbox, Burning Airlines, Fairweather and Jets To Brazil, will be on board as well. "We are such fans of the records J has worked on, so we are really excited to have the opportunity to work with him," said Anthony, guitarist/vocalist of Bayside. They will spend about a month in the studio, then head out on tour during November and December. Bayside have received great reviews from Alternative Press, Skratch, Punk Planet, and many other music magazines. Look for "Sirens and Condolences" to release in early 2004. Glasseater Tour In Support of Their New - Glasseater's new album, "Everything Is Beautiful When You Don't Look Down" released August 26th and the band will be on tour from September 24th to December 4th in support. There are several tours, the most notable is with Sick of it All on the West Coast. Snapcase, Catch 22 & Victory Video Collection, Volume 3 - Catch 22 have long been a favorite of punk fans everywhere, and they are back with their first full length release in three years, "Dinosaur Sounds". The new record, titled as a tongue-in-cheek comment on the state of Ska-punk, has 11 songs about growing up, loving, losing, and of course, drinking. Catch 22 are known for combining influences in their sound, and "Dinosaur Sounds" brings punk, ska, soul, metal and Motown to the table.
