Hey, welcome to a spicy edition of the old Pit Stop. This week we have lots of info on local bands as well as some UK news. I just want to let the readers know that I have an interview coming out with Art from the Shrooms. We both talked about the old days around our neighborhood and in Punk. You'll get to hear what Art shared with us and the various bands that are mentioned. So do please read the article when it’s posted on the MusicTAP main page.

With that in toll, let’s get to the news.

Thrice For The Cure - On Sunday, September 28th, the boys of Thrice have invited you to walk with them on the Syrenthia Savio Endowment Team' for the 2003 Orange County, CA Race For The Cure. The guys will be walking in the coed 5k walk to benefit the organization (to which they are already giving a percentage of The Artist In The Ambulance profits), and they want you to get involved, as well. The walk is only forty dollars and three hours on that Sunday morning, and as the band says, it will make a real difference in someone's life. Thrice.net has all of the info, and both PunkHardcore and Thrice encourage you to check it out and participate if you can as it is a very worthy cause.

New Thursday Video Online -For those of you out there, chomping at the bit, anxiously awaiting Thursday's next album War All the Time, MTV has a preview for you. Go check out the video for Thursday's first single off the album, called Signals In the Air, on MTV.com. Expect the album to be released on Island/Victory on September 16th.

Financial Woes For The Darkest Hour - The Darkest Hour, an amazing hardcore band currently on tour with Underoath, God Forbid and Atreyu were robbed of $120,000 (no, that's not a typo). The band was playing a show on the tour in Canada and someone broke into their van and stole various valuables including cell phones, lap tops and cash. If you want to help TDH out do yourself a favor and go see them on their current tour, I've been going to concerts all Summer and the show they put on last night was hands down the best. To see when the tour will be in your area head over to the Atreyu website and click "Shows." They'll be playing the Knitting Factory in New York tonight, so if you're in the area get out there and help out a band that more than deserves it.

Walk Through Walls Tour - Walk Through Walls, aggressive indie/post-hardcore band out of Louisiana will be heading out on a fall tour. Dates can be found at: www.walkthroughwalls.com You can also check out Walk Through Walls mp3's at www.mp3.com/walk_through_walls

Neva Dinova/Bright Eyes Split Coming Soon - The latest Crank! Records newsletter announced that one of the only Omaha bands that isn't on Saddle Creek Neva Dinova, has recorded a split CD with Saddle Creek poster boy[s] Bright Eyes. Each band contributes 3 songs to the release, which will be out on both CD and 10" in early January on Crank.

The Cougars’ Very First Release Hits Stores 10/21 - Eight, count 'em, eight guys (including former members of Big'n and Hot Stove Jimmy) thrust onto the stage for a multi-instrumental assault: dueling guitars, driving bass, manic drumming, powerful horns, ominous keyboards, beguiling vocals. Like a hurricane spinning into motion and laying waste to all that has not been boarded up and abandoned. Cougars have graced the stage of many respected venues such as the Empty Bottle, Metro, New York's Knitting Factory, and countless other rooms across the Midwest. Along the way, they've played with the likes of Oxes, Living Things, Arab On Radar and more. Each Cougars show is a testament to its vitality. Via the support and reach of Chicago based Flower Booking, relentless touring is being planned for the near and distant future.

If you get a chance, check them out live in their home town Chicago:

The Control’s New Album “Glasseye” Is Ready - The Control formed in May of 1999 with no ambition other than to play some blazing hardcore music. That simple plan has kept the four of them pretty busy since then. They have played and toured extensively, both on their own and in support of bands like Kill Your Idols, Holding On and Dillinger 4. The Control received amazing reviews for their first EP on Go-Kart Records and now one can expect a whole lot more of their new full-length album “Glasseye” which will be released on September 9th on Go-Kart. For those who can’t wait, pre-order it right here: www.gokartrecords.com/store In time with the release of their new album, The Control also worked out an extensive touring plan. So, you better check out their melodic yet raging hardcore punk and go and see them live hopefully in a town near you. Don’t miss it.
