Duane's Pit Stop Hey, welcome to a spicy edition of the old Pit Stop. This week we have lots of info on local bands as well as some UK news. I just want to let the readers know that I have an interview coming out with Art from the Shrooms. We both talked about the old days around our neighborhood and in Punk. You'll get to hear what Art shared with us and the various bands that are mentioned. So do please read the article when it’s posted on the MusicTAP main page. With that in toll, let’s get to the news. UK NEWS Matchbook Romance Dates 09-Sep Oxford Zodiac Hope Conspiracy Tour (One of MusicTAP's favorite bands) Monday 17th November - Liverpool Barfly Jello's Back at the Life Cafe, Manchester on Sunday 19th October. NO USE, BIG WIG, NONE MORE BLACK dates 10/29 London, UK Mean Fiddler US News Thrice For The Cure - On Sunday, September 28th, the boys of Thrice have invited you to walk with them on the Syrenthia Savio Endowment Team' for the 2003 Orange County, CA Race For The Cure. The guys will be walking in the coed 5k walk to benefit the organization (to which they are already giving a percentage of The Artist In The Ambulance profits), and they want you to get involved, as well. The walk is only forty dollars and three hours on that Sunday morning, and as the band says, it will make a real difference in someone's life. Thrice.net has all of the info, and both PunkHardcore and Thrice encourage you to check it out and participate if you can as it is a very worthy cause. New Thursday Video Online -For those of you out there, chomping at the bit, anxiously awaiting Thursday's next album War All the Time, MTV has a preview for you. Financial Woes For The Darkest Hour - The Darkest Hour, an amazing hardcore band currently on tour with Underoath, God Forbid and Atreyu were robbed of $120,000 (no, that's not a typo). The band was playing a show on the tour in Canada and someone broke into their van and stole various valuables including cell phones, lap tops and cash. If you want to help TDH out do yourself a favor and go see them on their current tour, I've been going to concerts all Summer and the show they put on last night was hands down the best. To see when the tour will be in your area head over to the Atreyu website and click "Shows." They'll be playing the Knitting Factory in New York tonight, so if you're in the area get out there and help out a band that more than deserves it. The Cougars’ Very First Release Hits Stores 10/21 - Eight, count 'em, eight guys (including former members of Big'n and Hot Stove Jimmy) thrust onto the stage for a multi-instrumental assault: dueling guitars, driving bass, manic drumming, powerful horns, ominous keyboards, beguiling vocals. Like a hurricane spinning into motion and laying waste to all that has not been boarded up and abandoned. Cougars have graced the stage of many respected venues such as the Empty Bottle, Metro, New York's Knitting Factory, and countless other rooms across the Midwest. Along the way, they've played with the likes of Oxes, Living Things, Arab On Radar and more. Each Cougars show is a testament to its vitality.
