Duane's Pit Stop Hey, welcome back to another week here in the old pit stop. I do apologize for the failure of our generations of inbreeding Editor Matt Rowe's incompetence to forewarn his staff that he took last Thursday off. That was reason for not having a post up last week, but as for this week we have some good news coming. This September, both Me and Julio A will be interviewing the Band, Exploited which should be a killer interview. Also, the band Level who has just came off the Vans Warp tour. With that being said lets get into this weeks post unless that Bastard Editor Matt Rowe screws that up too. (Editor's Note: Shhhhh...he's now being fed intravenously and will sleep for awhile.) Dischord Records - Dischord is working on a benefit CD compilation produced by and in support of Radio CPR (Community Powered Radio), a microbroadcast station serving the Mt Pleasant, Columbia Heights, Petworth, and Adams-Morgan neighborhoods of Washington, DC. Unlike a standard compilation, this CD will play like a radio show. It features a cross section of culturally diverse musicians and bands from the neighborhoods served by Radio CPR, as well as broadcast excerpts, station IDs, and interviews that are representative of the station's radical approach to reclaiming the airwaves from hyper-commercial forces and re-orienting them toward causes of community action and social justice. The Dismemberment Plan will play a farewell gig at the 9.30 club (a benefit for the Fort Reno Summer Concert Series) with Beauty Pill and The Aquarium. Their Fort Reno show was supposed to be their last show but because the show was semi rained out they decided to reschedule. Pat Graham is having a photo show at Mission Media in Baltimore, Maryland with Melaine Standage in early September. According to Pat, "The show is where my punk photos meet Melanie's sexy lady pics." Go to Pat's website at http://www.patgraham.org New zine out now - propaganda zine #1 is out now, and features interviews with the Setbacks, Guy Picciotto of Fugazi, Derek Grant of the Alkaline Trio, Mike Park of Asian Man Records and Dave Hackett. Also inside are columns, reviews, rants etc. including a piece by Punkstuff's own Craig Burnett. To pick up a copy send £1 with a 1st class stamp to PO Box 2837 Calverton NG14 6WU England. Cash or cheques to Edward Maile. For more info, contact: propagandazine@hotmail.com Walk Through Walls Tour - Walk Through Walls, aggressive indie/post-hardcore band out of Louisiana will be heading out on a fall tour. But now they've filled his space temporarily with the band's old guitarist, Max Huber. Their tour with Youth Brigade will go unaffected and are still adding dates to their calendar. Tooth & Nail's Newest Signing - Tooth & Nail, home of Further Seems Forever and The Juliana Theory has signed yet another band to their roster. The lucky few this time is Seattle's Amery. The band will be releasing their debut album in early 2004, but you can listen to "Walls" at MP3.com until then. Anti-Flag / Rise Against / None More Black Tour Dates first batch of confirmed shows for the first leg of The Terror State's North American tour. Anti-Flag will be touring the US alongside The Vacancy, None More Black, Against Me! And Rise Against, with Thought Riot replacing The Vacancy in early November. More shows to follow as soon as they're 100% confirmed. Right now, we're working on East Coast and Midwestern dates, as well as a slew of Canadian gigs after the New Year!"" Tour dates can be found at http://www.anti-flag.com/TO10.php" The Casualties Working On New Album - The band is heading into the studio next week to record the follow up to “Die Hards.” The working title is “On The Front Line.” This time around they will hook up with producer, Bill Stevenson, who played drums for Black Flag, Descendents & All and has produced recent records for Rise Against, The Suicide Machines & Good Riddance. The band just finished a short run of shows on the west coast and has 18 new songs to play with in the studio with Bill. Look for “On The Front Line” in stores in Feb/March of 2004… Yellowcard On National Television And Tour - Florida punk heroes Yellowcard will make their national television debut tonight, Wednesday, August 20th. The band will perform "Way Away," the lead single from their new album, "Ocean Avenue," on "Pepsi Smash," the WB's new hit music series. "Pepsi Smash" airs from 9:00-10:00 pm EST/PST on the WB. "Way Away" is also featured in EA Sports' just-released "Madden NFL 2004," one of the year's most anticipated videogames. Dates are also being confirmed for Yellowcard's fall tour with The Used, kicking off September 19th and hitting cities including Los Angeles, Denver and Las Vegas. Weezer Getting Personal On New Album - The next Weezer album may include some of the most personal songs frontman Rivers Cuomo has written to date. Producer Rick Rubin, who has been doing preproduction on the set for months, tells Billboard.com that on potential songs for the record, Cuomo "is really getting to a very personal place with writing and it's, I think, deeper than he's ever gone."
Black Flag: Keith Morris Is Unnecessary? - Contrary to what has been expected by Black Flag fans nationwide the group's orginial singer Keith Morris also of Circle Jerks fame will not be appearing any of the "The First 4 Years" reunion shows. Morris says it best in his own words. The following is taken from www.officialcirclejerks.com I need to let everybody that's interested in knowing that I WILL NOT BE A PART of the Black Flag reunion show at the Hollywood Palladium on Sept.12th and 13th as I was told that my presence or services were not necessary. At the very beginning of what's turned into a complete mess I made a commitment to do the shows based on the word of one of the main players that Ron Reyes(Chavo),Roberto Valverde(Robo), Dez Cadena and Chuck Dukowski (The Duke) were all going to be a part of this and as of last week Dez is doing it for sure and Robo might show up.....i've apparently been spreading vicious and damaging rumors and the story gets even more stupid the further we get into it. The bummer is that a large amount of people have already purchased tickets based on the fact that these shows have been advertised as "The 1st Four Years" but if there is no appearance of Ron Reyes, Chuck Dukowski or myself. I guess that would make it the "last year of the 1st 4 years", or some silly stupid such thing. Hear Hey Mercedes - You can now hear three new tracks off "Loses Control". It's the new album by Hey Mercedes in stores 10.07.03. To have a listen go to http://www.vagrant.com/losescontrol/ Hwm, Death By Stereo, & Afi - Remember HWM landed some huge dates with none other than AFI. For more information, check out Hot Water Music's official website at the link. http://hwmrock.com The mighty Death By Stereo will also be playing with AFI on October 30th at the Universal Amphitheatre. Dan's wrist is healing up because yesterday I saw him doing "up-downs" in our backyard while listening to Racer-X. For those of you who didn't play football, an "up-down" is when you throw yourself down on your stomach and then jump back up as fast as you can. Dan by Stereo wants it...he really wants it.
