Duane's Pit Stop

DKLeyva@musictap.net

Hey..welcome back to another edition of the old Pit Stop. This week we have a shit load of info of bands going on tour as well as new releases. One of my buds who first turned me on to bands like the Meat Puppets and Husker Du and the GBH way back in the day as well as serving me my very first Rolling Rock unfortunately thought he was Superman and could live forever. It took a needle in his arm to make him face reality and he consequentially took another leap to another gig in the sky. It’s sad knowing that the world will still continue without him. But every time I crank up No Survivors by GBH, I will think of my friend Arnold Ayala. Take care my friend…and with that note, lets go Brothers and Sisters.

Sonic Youth - will perform at the El Rey in Los Angeles on August 17. This will be the closing performance of the Don't Knock the Rock Festival founded by Filmmaker Alison Anders. More info and tickets available at dontknocktherock.com.

Face-to-Face – My friend Brian’s favorite band, face to face fans! We're looking to put together a Face to Face DVD and I'm looking for material. Anyone with a bootleg (or otherwise) video, audio, photo, and promo material from the 12 year span of our existence as a band, please contact misc@vagrant.com about information with how to get us your stuff!"

The Minor Threat - "First Demo Tape" CDEP/7" is now out in the world and stirring up lots of excitement. A rough mix of this demo has appeared on bootlegs over the years, but this is the first time that the master tapes have been made available with an approved mix. Ian and Jeff are still hard at work on the Minor Threat "live" DVD but no release date has been scheduled.

New Pennywise - All right, here it is: The very first MP3 off of the new record "From The Ashes" due out on September 9th. It is for the song "God Bless The USA" and it is definitely a kick-ass jam! Simply hit the link below and download at you leisure! www.epitaph.com/bands/index.php?id=324

Also, the band has just launched a completely overhauled website! On the new site, you can sign-up for the band's official online street team, get the latest news about the new record, see all of their confirmed tour dates and buy your pre-sale "record release party" tickets.

Fear The Terror State - Good news for you A-F fans. Anti-Flag's highly anticipated new disc has gotten a release date and a title. The disc, coming out on Fat Wreck will prove to be another amazing release from the band. Know The Greatest Story Ever Told - The Lawrence Arms aren't quite ready to release their entire new album, The Greatest Story Ever Told becuase it isn't September 23rd, yet. The fall tour will include many dates that Q and Not U were forced to cancel in the spring. The band also continues writing new material and hope to enter the studio later this winter to record a new full-length.

Dallas Leaves Underoath - Underoath has found themselves without a lead singer. The band has announced they asked their former lead singer, Dallas, to leave based on reasons they decided were best left undisclosed. No worries though, the bands tour with Atreyu and The Darkest Hour is still on, with the vocalist from Winter Solstice filling Dallas' shoes. After the tour the band will be looking for a new permanent replacement vocalist.

So, the band has completed their tour with Reggie and the Full Effect and now they are out on the Warped Tour for about a week and reports from the road say that they are killing it. They are said to be drawing between 500-700 people every time they play; in-fact, they were moved to one of the main stages the other day for logistical purpose...in other words: Their crowds were too damn big for the Volcom stage. To see all of the current dates this band still has remaining, you can see the rest here.

There is also a cool contest going on involving this band over at Fanscape.com too. You can win a brand-new digital camera and a ton of new music check it all out here.

I do hope every one has a good week. As for me, I’m off to the Hills to do some fishing before the damn Governor of California shuts that down as well.

Cheers to you all and don’t be Bastards later.
