Duane's Pit Stop

DKLeyva@musictap.net

Hey...welcome back to another Pit Stop. We have tons of info for new releases as well as who’s doing what and out on tour. A lot of people have been emailing me asking what’s up with me no longer doing any Album Reviews for MusicTAP. Well to be honest, I have just been one lazy Bastard and haven’t made the time to review albums. But I have promised that sniveling bastard editor of this site, Matt Rowe that I’m back in business. I should have several reviews out by next week. Also, I’m going to be reviewing the Exploited gig in the Galaxy Theatre (or The Key Club in Hollywood) soon.

Pumpkineater Compilation - Pumpkineater Records and EmotionalPunk.com have teamed up to bring you a compilation that you won't want to miss. The CD is seventeen tracks long and features unrealsed stuff from 5 Days Ahead, Late Night Desperate, and Attracted To Miss. Finding Westerly, Landis, Days Like These and Parkview also make appearances on the disc. Best part is that it's only five bucks, so get the full details and pick up your copy here.

The guys will be playing shows in New York and Connecticut along with one with Fall Out Boy, so check the shows page for events. Rock.

The New Face Of Jersey - In preparation for the release of their new album on August 5th, Ontairo punk rock boys Jersey have launched a few new things for you. First, the guys have a media player where you can preview five tracks from Generation Genocide, which can be found here. Their homepage at JerseyRock.com has had a facelift and is looking quite good and is stacked with all sort of goodies, so head over and check that out, too. Jersey will be touring Canada with Sum 41 come September, so watch for them coming through and pick up the release on the 5th.

Leave Your Own Mark On Hardcore - Hardcore will never be the same after Solid State gets through with it this Fall. The label has announced a tour consisting of Norma Jean, Figure Four, The Agony Scene and Beloved; the four bands slated to rock the US starting September 5th. This awesome tour has yet to be named, though, and if you just can't contain your creative juices, I guess you're in luck. The "Name That Tour" contest is going on, and if you're witty or clever enough to think of a good name for the outing, you could win yourself copies of each band's new CD's. Send your names over to info@solidstaterecords.com from now until August 1st to enter.

Rhino 'Feeling' Punk On Four Disc Set - Rhino Records will on Oct. 28 release a four-disc box set with more than 100 songs chronicling the '70s punk movement. The set features songs from 1973 to 1980, by which time the movement had shifted into a number of subgenres. "Classic" punkers like the Ramones, the Clash, Dead Kennedys, the Jam, the Damned, Buzzcocks, X-Ray Spex, Wire and Generation X are featured, as are artists such as Patti Smith, Elvis Costello, Joy Division, Talking Heads, Joe Jackson, Television, the Pretenders, the Boomtown Rats and Blondie, who were originally aligned with the punk movement but later became associated with other genres. "The '70s Punk Rebellion" also boasts material from short-lived acts like the Adverts, the Rezillos and Eddie & the Hot Rods and punk progenitors such as Iggy & the Stooges, the Modern Lovers and the New York Dolls.
