Duane's Pit Stop Welcome back to another edition of the old Pit Stop. This week we have tons of US punk news and information on new releases as well as tour dates and the latest gossip in punk. Also, in this week's Pit Stop, a old friend of mine, Johnny “Boots” Rodriguez caught up with me at a gig that I was performing at and passed along a great story that was written by Jimmy Alvarado. The piece is about the punk bands that had formed in the East Los Angeles area of California USA around the 80’s and 90’s. You will be amazed at what you learn of the bands. Some of the people who are huge now in the music industry had come out of there as well as yours truly. Click here to read it in it's entirety. With that in tow, lets slam.
New The Juliana Theory Track Available - A New track is available from the upcoming live album, due out August 5th. Go to http://www.thejulianatheory.com to hear "Duane Joseph" live. Planes Mistaken For Stars Update - As reported last week on the official Planes Mistaken For StarsWebsite www.pmfs.net, their bassist Jamie Drier has decided to leave the band after their upcoming tour for undisclosed reasons. The band was currently in the middle of writing their next record. The following tour dates will be the last chance to see Planes Mistaken For Stars with the line up of Gared, Mikey, Matt, & Jamie. Whether or not the band will continue with a new bass player remains to be seen. Denver band End Game is supporting all dates. All dates are "all ages" except for Lawrence. You can also win tickets at http://www.pmfs.net to these shows. 7/31/03 Lawrence, KS @ The Replay (21 + - sorry) Green Day Give Away A Piece Of Their Drummer - Despite not releasing an album in about three years, an seemingly with no new material on the way, Green Day always seem to nudge their way into our music news. A couple weeks ago we let you in on the status of drummer Tre Cool and the details surrounding the surgery on his leg, which led to the postponement of the band’s upcoming album. The latest reports from greenday.net find the drummer giving away the bone chip that was removed from his leg to the person who can write the best Haiku poem. At first, Cool joked about bidding good riddance to the chip, but fans held him to his word and now if you can put your poetic skills to work, you might be in luck. Forget about the days of old when musicians gave away their guitar picks or drumsticks, this is your chance to literally get a piece of a musician.
