We have a few things for you before merging on to the new work-week. The first is our Aerosmith face-off. Last week, we put the choice of Rocks or Toys in the Attic to you as which may be the better of the two "perfect album." This mini-poll didn't get a lot of attention but the for the sake of this request, we did get a selection. 21 voted for Toys in the Attic while Rocks received 22. This also included a few that we got off our Twitter feed request for the same poll. Truth be told, while I like Rocks better, Toys in the Attic is definitely an argument for best of the two. If we had more respondents, we might have a clearer picture but given the fact that it was sooo close, I think that this one can be labeled pretty even. Check out our Kansas face-off a little further down.

Our next thing was from last week's vinyl scrawl discussion. I received a fair amount of emails from readers, all of whom knew the album that "Don't Worry," "Nothing Will Be OK" were from the Eagles LP, One of These Nights. The Eagles enjoyed this method of communication as they scrawled on several other titles as well:

"...on Hotel California it said on Side One "Is It 5 O' Clock Yet" and Side Two "V.O.L. Is Five Piece Live". Then there were some written things on run out grooves of ...But Seriously, Folks by Joe WalshThe Long Run by The Eagles, Eagles Live, Face Dances by The Who. Of course "Do What thou wilt" was on runout groove of Led Zeppelin III."

"...Apparently they were quite keen on this practice. You may already know these, but some of the others by them include:

Their Greatest Hits

     "Happy New Year Glen (sic)

     ---with Love from Bill"

Hotel California

     "Is it 6 o'clock yet?"

     "V.O.L. is five piece live"

The Long Run

"Never let your monster lay down."

"From the Polack who sailed North."

Eagles Live

Is It Illegal to Yell "Movie" in a Firehouse?

     "Hello Federal?...Ship It!!"

     "Not Tonight, Thanks....

....I've Gotta Rest Up for my Monster."

Greatest Hits Vol. Two

     Lenny and Leon Say

... "Everything Put Together Falls Apart"

No Fun Aloud (Glen Frey)

     J.R., Thanks for the Ball.

To Nellie and Millie With Love

Airborne (Don Felder)

     All One's Life is Music

If One Touches the Right Notes and In Time..."

"...My favorite was "Luncheon Counter of the Deli Kind."

"I remembered there was something written in the vinyl of the Hotel California but I had to go to Wikipedia to find it because I couldn't remember what it said. I do remember reading that the "Is It 6 O'clock Yet" comment had something to do with alcohol not being consumed in the studio during recording until after 6:00 (sort of like happy hour I guess).

Here is what was on Wikipedia: The vinyl record </wiki/Vinyl_record>  pressings had custom picture labels of a blue Hotel California logo with a yellow background. They also had text engraved in the carry-out groove on each side: 1.    "Is It 6 O'clock Yet?"  2.    "V.O.L. Is Five-Piece Live" This is stating that the song "Victim of Love" was recorded in five parts live, with no overdubbing. Joe Walsh </wiki/Joe_Walsh>  and Glenn Frey confirms this on the inner booklet of "The Very Best of The Eagles".

  • God Save the Queen/Under Heavy Manners: Side A - "New music is not a style it is a quality" and Side B - "All succumbs to the face of persistence"
  • Exposure: Side 1 - "1981 is the year of the Fripp" and Side 2 - "The aim is freedom conscience and truth"
  • The League of Gentlemen: Side 2 - "The next step is discipline"
  • The Clash / Sandinista: Side 1 - "In space..., Side 2 - "...no one...", Side 3 - "...can...", Side 4 - "...hear...", Side 5 - "...you...", Side 6 - "...clash!"

"First one I ever noticed was on my original pressing of The Beatles’ Let It Be: “Phil & Ronnie” is written in the inner groove…no great mystery who that refers to!"

There were many, many more but it has been so long, I remember few of them myself.

And finally, we have the winner of the Santana Supernatural Legacy Edition contest. Congratulations to Cynthia G. Your album should be in the mail as you read this.

I want to alert TAP readers to the fact that I have finally put together a FaceBook page with an easily remembered URL in http://www.facebook.com/musictap.  What this offers is the exact same thing as my Twitter feeds provide and that is first buzz on upcoming releases and free offered downloads, many announcements  that beat our main post, sometimes by days.  We also provide a Google BUZZ page that expands on most of the Twitter/FB feeds. On Buzz, you can even hear the music stream if a stream is offered.  There are still things that I'm working on in the FB page, like calender notes as well as links to great sites like The Second Disc.  I invite you to join us at our FB page and bookmark it.  Visit it daily and you'll be rewarded with much news and info.  Of course, you'll still want to come to the main MusicTAP page for our noisy commentaries.  Remember, with our Twitter feeds, you can elect to receive the news bursts as text on your mobile phone keeping you effortlessly up to date with stuff.  Lots of choices.  Find one, or two, that fits.

I really like the music from the upcoming Hacienda album. Their new album, Big Red & Barbacoa, has some good music as can be heard on their free and downloadable track, "I Keep Waiting." The album is produced by The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach and is expected to be released on April 6. On the downloaded track, you're going to hear some serious '60s Pop/Rock influence.

We'll close with this mini-poll face-off (suggested by Kevin L, who has suggested several mini-polls): Which is better: Leftoverture or Point of Know Return (Kansas).
