April 18, 2005

We've received some good news even as we spoke a little too soon. No sooner had I posted my little complaint about Bruce Springsteen's back catalogue being shockingly "old" than I get an email that alerted me to the fact that Columbia plans a 30th Anniversary overhaul for this 'greatest rock 'n' roll album' called Born to Run.

And how was your weekend? I hope that it was satisfying in every way. BTW, we're starting an experiment with running Ads by Google. Bear with us.

We have several (5) reviews that include Lindsay Planer's latest edition of As The Disc Spins with listens to Hip-O Select rarity (less than 500 left of these babies), David Ruffin's David as well as Karaoke title, Master Motown Recordings - Karaoke, and Motown's A Cellarful of Motown! We also have John Dunphy's review of LA's Raining Jane and their Diamond Lane, and my review of Bloc Party and their superb Silent Alarm.

We also have a new contest underway here that will last a few days with a newer one coming in to take its place. Right now, we have 10 copies of Eisley's Warner debut, Room Noises up for grabs. Here's the deal: Read the review and answer questions found within the body of the review. Be one of the first 10 to answer correctly and you'll snag yourself a copy of this album. Good luck, readers.

That's it for today. We'll be back in a few with hopefully more releases that will warm your heart. We're making nice headway on our new front page.

We have a few date changes; nothing major so no need to get worked.

The Be Good Tanjas get moved again to a new resting spot of October 11, jumping 2 calendar pages from August 16. Other movements include Charlie Sexton's Just Like Love, moving from August 2 to August 30; Marjorie Fair's Self Help Serenade from June 28 to July 19; Mediaeval Babes' Mirabilis from June 28 to July 19; Sparrow's Newsboys move their CD/DVD package, Shine the Hits as well as their CD/DVD issue of Thrive actually move up to August 16 from October 11; and Taylor/Rodriguez's Red Dog Tracks gets better date choice with their move from June 21 to May 24.

Days Of My Life is inserted into the catalogue for Antonio Neal on an expected release date of June 28.

Narada Records announces the inclusion of an as-yet-untitled David Lanz collobaration with Gary Stroutsos into the release books calling for a August 2 release date. They also announce an untitled release for Kathy Mattea on September 27 and a Craig Chaquico (Jefferson Starship/ Solo) untitled project for October 11.

There are a batch of 'best of' material coming in 2006 for Pirates of the Mississippi, Conway Twitty (Some of My Best, Volume 1), Canned Heat/Quicksilver (Back to Back Hits), Great White/April Wine (Back to Back Hits), Corey Hart, Freddie Hart, The Missing Persons, The Smithereens, Robin Trower, and BB King.

The Band's Box Set is still intact at September 27.
