We've said it before, and here we go again...WEEKEND!! And what will I do? Last weekend, I HAD no weekend because of certain things that needed to be done. As a result, I whined and cried..I want my weekend back. This was especially true after the Bears were beaten by division enemy, The Vikings. But despite all that, we were so physically busy, we had our first moment of rest on Sunday evening around 6p. And we had work to attend to on Monday. Life...
Welcome back to the weekend edition. We have some nice tidbits for you before we ride off into that cherished convention along with a few other goodies including Duane's PitStop so we'll get started.
We didn't do as well in the review department in September as we did in August. In September, there were a total of 22 reviews. But, there was a vacation in there and other things. Hopefully, we can put those numbers up yet again.
Today, and for the weekend, we have a single review. This review is of The Mick Fleetwood Band and is called Something Big. This is a pretty damn good album and so I'm pleased to bring it to you as a review.
Additionally, we have Duane's Pit Stop for this week. On Monday, we have some more reviews and lots more that we'll be working on this weekend to bring to you over the week. We have a new Lindsay Planer write-up of As the Disc Spins. Lindsay pops these things out fast but I'm working on a snafu that works me hard to put that together. We'll eventually figure it out and you'll see his updates much faster. He really does produce them quickly.
Lindsay would also like to take a few moments to remember Scott Muni who recently died at the age of 74. He worked the NYC mikes on various radio stations earning the nickname of The Professor. He accumulated almost 50 years of radio time, his last with Q104.3, a gig he enjoyed since 1998. And he was a friend of not only the NY market but he was also a personal friend of Lindsay. He will be greatly missed. The Professor adds his talents to the big old radio station in the sky. But he remains in our hearts.
We're talking with a potential new addition to the TAP family. We hope to have a review up by her by next week. More on that as we get closer.
News on Nirvana Box on Monday as well as some Bee Gees, Motley Crue, Eminem, and Bob Marley and The Wailers issues.
Have a great weekend. See movies. Listen to music. Buy some music and movies. Have fun.
Those're subliminals...yeah, right!
See you on Monday. Oh yeah, and welcome to October.

We have yet to see one of these so this makes a great first one for us. Once I snag one of these, we'll talk about it. This re-issue is expected on November 9. But it looks as if it will replicate the previous DVD-Audio release with the same materials as found on that release. If Warner would like to "front" me one of these, I'll talk about it openly.
Extra late addition but too good to wait for Monday:
We have just received notice that the official date for the SA-CD release of Nine Inch Nail's The Downward Spiral is settled for November 23. Mark it.

Perhaps we drained the news bucket after all. Well, not really. We do have a few for you as well as several reviews. George Bennett checks in with a review of Brian Wilson's Smile. We also have a review of Michael Sadler's Clear by Dw Dunphy.
And since I'm tired beyond belief right now, I'll forgo my usual chatter and go have some dinner with the Hunts tonight. I haven't seen Bill and Sarah in a few weeks so I'm looking forward to the visit ALTHOUGH I'm gonna hafta hear about those damn Vikings lopsiding my W/L table, maybe for 15 minutes. Yeah, that's right, I'm a Bears fan. And I'm talking about the loss we suffered at the hands of the Vikings. And the losses we have piled on otherwise. Our QB, our cornerback...when does it end..all this needless suffering. Ok Bill, pour it on..I can take it (I hope.) I'm to be pitied.
We have a look at the new R.E.M. cover as well as links to a video of "Leaving New York". Have fun! We're anxiously awaiting this release.

We also have a directed message by Dw Dunphy. It's something that he feels strongly about and well..here it is for your agreement or disagreement. Read on.

Although this news would typically go into the DVD section, I'll mention it at the top here. It has to do with The Ramones. Xenon has a live DVD planned for release on November 9. The DVD is titled Blitzkrieg Bop: Live & Loud at CBGB! Watch for it cuz it's gonna rock these sox!
And while we're at it, Xenon will issue a DVD for Ray Charles called The Lost Concert. It too will be available on November 9.
Good calls, Xenon!!
Oh no...no sooner than we tell you happy people about the imminent Limited Deluxe Edition releases of Eurythmics albums and we now gotta tell you that those have been put on hold. Methinks that someone let the cat out of the bag a little early and perhaps the i's and the t's still needed to be crossed OR the anticipated release date might have been a little too ambitious HOWEVER the titles announced yesterday have now been placed on hold. I'm confident that these souped up re-issues will still hit the streets..and soon. So hang tight until I get the new dates. Developing...

Just think of all that Blue Sky catalogue waiting to be re-issued...
Epic gave us word about a Manic Street Preachers release called (Lipstick Traces) A Secret History of The Manic Street Preachers. This collection has been available everywhere else but here in the US. That changes with this December 28 release.

News, news, news. Now that we complained, there's plenty to go 'round. That's cool. There's nothing like good music to soothe the soul, especially in this period of the year.
I wanted to take a moment to alert you all to the pummeling our George Bennett has been receiving at the hands of the hurricanes. If you have a moment yourself, write a note of thought to him. It's been pretty bad in that region. And allow me to say, if you are reading this and have been in the paths of these storms, our thoughts and prayers have been with you from day one.
We have two reviews for you. The first is George Bennett's listen to the new and impressive Green Day album, American Idiot. I've reviewed the recently released Rhino-issued Judy Collins album, Democracy: Judy Collins Sings Leonard Cohen. Finally, Dw reviews Fates Warning's upcoming release of FWX.

The October issue of Wired Magazine (maybe the world's greatest magazine in my opinion) has a very interesting article on the potential change of distribution of music found on page 170. It's a lengthy article that brings up interesting points. And while you're in there, on page 31 is the second page of the Rants+Rave letters section. Every month they put up a pic of a mailed item. This month they used a clock that was mailed to them by my daughter. She's quite happy that her mailing made the page. If you get Wired, check it out.
