It is just as I feared. While a little slipped in it was still quite a barren info highway. No matter; after our day off, it should be spillin' into our laps. I do have a tidbit about The Waterboys and an upcoming reissue but it'll wait til Friday. The teaser.
And..on Friday, the 2nd of April, I reach the age of (should I tell?)...awww, hey...I got an idea. I have a copy of Josh Groban's Closer (the Limited Edition) that I'll give to the first who can guess just how old I'll be on Friday. One guess per customer and ...be kind. The first right answer gets the goods. See...it ain't so bad today, eh? Guess at mattrowe@musictap.net. Use Matt's Age as the subject line.
See you Friday.

There is news of a new planned DVD-Audio release. Check below for the title.
The Capsule Reviews are courtesy of Dw Dunphy (3), and George Bennett (1). They are:

How was everyone's weekend?
I viewed an extraordinary film over the weekend. The film was Dogville and is, admittedly, not a film for everyone. It pushes the boundaries of conventional movies like a rubberband. But the impact it manufactures is nothing short of an experience. The critical moralities in this film actually extend beyond their place and move into another realm while asking us who the greater villains of societies are, making us choose. The payoff is quite a powerhouse albeit revealing of von Trier's view of humanity, which is bleak and grim. Regardless, the film speaks well and is entrancing despite its sparse filmstaging. The use of a single stage soon gets lost in the strength of the story and you become oblivious of the lack of visuals. Again, not a film for those who become easily bored by allegory and metaphors but incredible for those that can sit with it. And at 3 hours, it does require attention.
We've got a review today by Dw Dunphy. He has listened to the new album by Proto-Kaw, Before Became After. But that's all we formatted for today. We've had quite the busy weekend with family from out of state and out of town and I didn't get the time to format all the reviews I have. We do have 'em though. We have several George Bennett reviews, several more Dw Dunphy reviews, some by Marco Passarelli, and even a few by mice elf. We'll work another or two up for tomorrow. You can expect more for Wednesday as well. Be patient with us. Also note that on April 12 through the 19th, MusicTAP will not have any postings at all. We'll consider it a nice break for the staff and myself.
We take a moment here to pay respects to the passing of Jan & Dean's Jan Berry who died Friday evening. We remember every song that was sung by this duo and recognize their place in the history of Rock n Roll. Jan, say hi to everyone for us. Heaven's house band just got one better.
Check out the new SACD title from Island Records in the Hi Rez column below.
If any of you get out to see Dogville (PLEASE - NOT on my recommendations- see above) by all means pad me up a few words to give me your thoughts on this provocative film.
Now, let's see what the powers that be has in store for us, music wise.
Don't forget the reader reviews. If you have a single paragraph about a favourite current album that you have, share it with the world. Write me here and use READER REVIEW in the subject line.
Sanctuary, BMG's retro and fringe arm, will offer a new .38 Special album on June 8. The album will be called Drive Train.
Also on June 8 and also from Sanctuary is an album from JJ Cale (Cocaine) who will issue his To Tulsa and Back.
Castle Records, a subsidiary of Sanctuary will release an album for Colosseum called An Introduction to Colosseum. That will hit stores on June 8.
We've mentioned before that Sanctuary has a 2CD offering in the works for Peter Green. The Anthology will be known as Man of the World: The Anthology - 1968-1988. Mayall fans and particularly early Fleetwood Mac fans (that's pre- Buckingham/Nicks) will know of him immediately. This is the guy who replaced Eric Clapton in the Mayall Bluesbreakers lineup. And although his tenure was quite short, his impact is still felt. He left with Mick Fleetwood and John McVie to form the first iteration of The Mac in 1967 along with Jeremy Spencer. Unfortunately, things went bad precipitating a mental breakdown that pushed him out of the spotlight for many years with sporadic reappearances. Man of the World highlights his Fleetwood Mac years between 1967-1970 as well as his more experimental activities after this Mac period. Between his 1978-1988 years, much of his recorded material were spare, much considered "lost". However, he was active. This collection brings to light some of that material. The packaging will be issued in a nice slipcase cover and will be digitally remastered. This set will be available on May 18.
The two Daryl Hall and John Oates reissues that we mentioned last week, Private Eyes and H2O, will have some bonus cuts on them. Here's a little more on those releases besides the fact that these Deluxe Sets are digitally remastered. Private Eyes will contain, in addition to the original song tracking, a 12" version of "Your Imagination" and a 12" version of "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)". H2O, in addition to digital remastering, will contain a 12" version of "Family Man"; a 12" version of "Maneater"; and a 12" version of "One on One". These two gems will be ready for snatching on May 18.
RCA Victor and Private Music have announced an Etta James title, Blues to the Bone, for release on June 8.
Another June 8 release from Sanctuary will be from the popular Ministry. Their new album will be called Houses of the Mole'. Also from Sanctuary is an album from Gary Moore, Power of the Blues. It also will release on June 8.
We've been talking about the new Morrissey album that is set to arrive from Sanctuary Records and will be called You Are The Quarry. It's expected on May 18. This is Morrissey's first solo album in nearly 7 years and will be issued several ways. It will see release as a gatefold LP, a jewel cased CD, a CD mini-jacket with gatefold, and a combo CD/DVD special edition.

Sanctuary's upcoming Queensryche's The Art of Live on DVD will now be complemented by the release of the same title on CD. While the DVD is expected on April 20, the CD title will issue on June 8.
Fans of Stiff Little Fingers will get 2 reissues from Castle Records. The albums are Flags and Emblems (1991) and Get a Life (1994) will street on June 8.
Fans get ready! We know because we received a load of email when we announced a hold on Velvet Revolver's upcoming Contraband how disappointed that was but now, as expected, they've received a new schedule date. Now you can pencil in June 8 for this title.
Everlast's latest release, White Trash Beautiful, will be released by Island Records on May 25. This CD will also see SACD conversion on the same day.

Well, what do you know. We have a new SACD announcement. This new release is from Everlast and is their White Trash Beautiful album. This one will be made available to fans from Island Records on May 25.
Bonnie Raitt's Nick of Time DVD-Audio is moved back in date just a little. This anticipated and much delayed release will shift from July 13 to July 27.

Private Music will release an MC5 DVD as soon as they decide on a viable date for the set. This DVD will highlight one of America's most political bands from the 60s and finally pay homage to the band that could kick out the jams. The set will be called MC5: A True Testimonial and will feature live performances, photo gallery, testimonials of influence, and outtakes. We'll be sure to let you lmnow when it becomes available.
Neil Young's movie version of his Greendale will be released on DVD for May 18. In addition to the movie, bonus features will include The Making of Greendale which will contain new interviews with Neil and members of the cast, 3 live performances of Greendale songs, lyrics, and a complete discography.
