If you have a favourite radio and they have a live feed, send it to me.

It's pretty slow in the news world. And that means just a little bit of news for y'all to take in. I hate it. But here we are anyway with what we could drudge up. We did spice it up with a pair of reviews from Dw Dunphy. Dw has checked out the solo release of Jerry Gaskill, drummer of King's X. The album is Come Somewhere. But we didn't stop there. Dw snagged a little of Jerry Gaskill's time and got an interview in return. Additionally, Dw has reviewed a little band by the name of Velvet Revolver, a superband from the ashes of Stone Temple Pilots and Guns n Roses. Read the review for Contraband.
i have, from time to time, asked about favourite radio stations; especially stations that break the mold and exhibit behaviours above the normal scopes of corporate stations. I've mentioned Southern California's newest entry in FM radio, Indie 103.1, which has expanded the concepts of current FM to embrace the spirit of 60s and 70s FM styles. In the newest edition of Rolling Stone, they devote a quarter page to our 103.1. Check it out while we all wait for an internet feed. Folks, this is radio.
We'll have more coming up on Friday.

First off, a BIG Happy Birthday to Sarah Hunt of The Digital Bits.
Ok..funny story for you folks. Several years ago when Michael Jackson announced that he had fathered some children by the agency of one Debbie Rowe, Entertainment Tonight contacted us (Mrs TAP is named Debbie Rowe..go figure) and let us in on the news and also hoping that the said Debbie Rowe was my wife (easier that way). We have fielded several calls since however it does get a tad more interesting. Recently, Mrs TAP received an email from a young MJ admirer in the hopes that she has acquired the instant access that she needed to MJ's attention. Mrs TAP let her down however gently she could and the two email every once in a while just to check up on each other. That's nice. Today, Mrs TAP received a letter from France from a fan of MJ that read a little sad. While the occurrances of mistaken identity is somewhat humourous, they do detail a part of a greater conciousness of humanity that reaches out to the stars that, ironically, sometimes mirror our own insecurities or offer up what seems like hope in their songs. In this case, this distraught person sought to offer good thoughts to MJ despite the undercurrent of their own misfortunes.
For this reason, if Michael Jackson runs across this bit, he can contact me for forwarding of the mail. Although I doubt I'll get an answer...
We have that promised review of the Garcia Box Set, All Good Things, from Lindsay Planer. Dw has done up a review of Jerry Gaskill (Kings' X) solo, Come Somewhere, which we'll post tomorrow along with the Jerry Gaskill interview.

Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends...
Sorry. I couldn't resist. And that one's been on the burner for some time, it has.
It's been a bit of a weekend to be sure. I took in a viewing of Riddick (it was ok, if not a little splintered and predictable. I often stated to myself, a response before it was used; not good.) and caught the Cubs (nope, not my team) against the Angels (not my team either.) Cubs won. I used Sunday to soak up some relaxation.
Before we get started, we'd like to announce the winner of the Peccatum contest. It was won by TAP reader, Michael Nichols of Missouri. Congratulations, Michael.
Today, we have a few reviews including another Dw Dunphy's Capsules. In this Capsule release, Dw listens to Drill a Hole... by Jim White; Mike Doughty's Rockity Roll EP; Together We're Strangers by No-Man; Dreadnaught's Musica En Flagrante; and a self-titled EP by 50 Foot Wave. We also have a review of Mary Chapin Carpenter's latest, Between Here and Gone, reviewed by George Bennett. I've run a Shout! Factory release, BushSpeak, through the player for a ton of comic relief.
We have a review coming up on the gargantuan Garcia Box Set coming from Lindsay Planer. Be sure to watch for that. Dw has done up a review of Jerry Gaskill (Kings' X) solo, Come Somewhere for tomorrow as well. In addition to the Jerry Gaskill review, we have an interview with the drummer as well. That's coming up on Wednesday. And more.
We're in an apparent lull where release info is concerned so we'll try to plug the gap with what we can. Hang in there. We're hopin' that Fall anticipation will up the ante for some cool music including an impending U2 issue.

We've got wind of more Essential titles coming from Legacy. So who's a David Allen Coe fan? I remember hearing an uncensored release of a Coe title many, many years ago and thus I've always remembered Coe by that. A little unfair perhaps but hey, my introduction to the guy. However, Legacy and Columbia team up to issue an Essential David Allen Coe on August 10.

For Genesis fans. . . . please sit down. We reported, what now seems like eons ago, that Genesis material, notably The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, was being mixed to 5.1. Well, it seems as if that project was completed and now it is just a matter of announcement. Audio Revolution (brought to our attention by TAP reader, Marc C) has issued an article that can be found at this link. The short of it is this, while it is mixed to 5.1, there is no indication as to which format will carry the music. Audio Revolution speculates that it may be DualDisc. And folks, I've YET to see one of those things. In any case, hold your breath because one of Genesis' finest is about to show up in 5.1. And while you're reading that article, pay close attention to the added comment by a Warner exec. Oops!
