Things are pretty slow as they have a tendency to get now and again. We have some good news and a new edition of Pit Stop, what better way to go into the weekend. And here we go... WEA have a batch of albums scheduled on thru til the end of the year even though I'm willing to bet more titles pop onto the horizon. On October 14, The Distillers latest, Coral Fang, will appear on store shelves in two different covers, the standard cover and an alternate cover. Also on the 14th, the ZZ Top Box set, Chrome, Smoke, and BBQ will issue in two styles, the standard CD and a Limited Edition Box. Both sets will contain 4CDs. The expected DVD for Depeche Mode, 101, will move to October 21. Also on October 21 will be the before mentioned Eagles 2CD 'best of', The Very Best of The Eagles, and will also contain a DVD. Additionally, the Rush 3CD companion to the DVD, Rush in Rio, will also be delivered on this date. On the 28th of October, there will be a 3CD Billy Bragg essential title, Must I Paint You a Picture?: The Essential Billy Bragg. There will also be many more releases that we have spoke of in many posts, REM, Neil Young DVD-Audios, Jackson Browne's Running on Empty DVD-A, Mike Oldfield's TB2003 DVD-A, and Erasure. October 28 is a BIG month with lots of titles so be very prepared. Looking into November, Matchbox 20's as yet untitled album; P.O.D.; Robert Plant's 'best of', Sixty Six to Timbuktu; Black Sabbath's Black Box; and an addition with Fabolous's More Street Dreams Volume One: The Mix Tape which will be available on CD and LP. Catching a breath, there will also be a Phil Collins DVD, Serious Hits Live; and a Stone Temple Pilots CD. On the 18th, Tori Amos' Tales of a Librarian - The Collection; a Blue Man Group DVD; the 3 hotly anticipated Fleetwood Mac upgrades, Tusk, Fleetwood Mac, and Rumours; Red Hot Chili Peppers CD w/DVD; Simple Plans; and Hank Williams Jr. For the 25th of November, Jackson Browne's DVD-A of Naked Ride Home; Missy Elliott CD and LP issues; REM DVD-Audios of Green and New Adventures in Hi-Fi (pant pant); and a 2CD rarities collection for Paul Simon. Looking ahead we have scheduled stuff for T Rex; Brian Wilson; Chicago; Jim Croce; ELP; Faces; EmmyLou Harris; Yes; and Los Lobos to mention a few. Be patient. Closing off for the weekend, we have the new issue of Duane's Pit Stop. Be cool and we'll see you on Monday. We'll have some reviews, some XRCD news, and hopefully some more release info. Thanks to readers for sending in your experiences with satellite radio. They will be very helpful. You guys are better than any expected CD by a long shot. I'll just get the cancellation out of the way first. Hoping that you're not an Annie Lennox fan as BMG reports that the scheduled DVD-Audio disc of her Bare title has been cancelled. To give a bit of hope, lots of titles have been cancelled only to reappear some time later. But, for now, it's off the books. In addition, Bruce Hornsby's 'best of', Greatest Radio Hits, have been moved to January 13. If you were waiting for that one, make your change on the calendar. Sanctuary's Castle Records delivers a few retro titles with Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come. The discs are Galactic Zoo Dossier; Journey; and Kingdom Come. Those enter the schedule for a November 18 release date. More Castle releases are Albert Lee's That's Alright, Mama: The Country Fever and Black Crow Sessions arriving on November 18. And, believe it or not, we have exhaused the news this week, thus far. We can hope for a better outcome for tomorrow so click back to see what we have. There will be a new Pit Stop by in any case. I have a request before we get on to the sparse news for today. And while we're straining to get some newsworthy items out on the wire for you, we're not empty handed. What I need is feedback from digital radio users, both Sirius and XM. We're preparing an article and I need to know your experiences with both systems, what you like and what you don't like. Just open the floodgates and write away. Now... CDs The nice selections of King Biscuit Flower Hour Archive Series increases a few more titles on October 21. They join a great batch of already released titles that includes, Robin Trower, Ramones, Molly Hatchet, Todd Rundgren, and Uriah Heep amongst others. On November 11, The Stone Temple Pilots have a 'best of' coming. The album, Thank You, will contain 15 songs including an acoustic renditon of "Plush" as well as a new track, "All In the Suit That You Wear". Fans of MTV's Headbanger's Ball will get an MTV2 Headbanger's Ball, a 2CD set due on October 7. Universal has readied an Edie Brickell album, Volcano, which is slated for an October 14 date. The Fleetwood Mac Rhino reissues are bumped to November 18. Titles affected are Fleetwood Mac, Rumours, and Tusk. DVD-Audio A Neil Young bump for Greendale will place it on the same release date as the expected 4 releases, American Stars n Bars, Re-Act-Or, On the Beach, and Hawks and Doves on October 28. That will be five Neil Yound DVD-As on the same date. Well, you know it happens every now and again. There is little to report on at this time. It does happen from time to time where we exhaust what's expected. We'll be back tomorrow with what happens in the interim. Don't leave without checking out the review of Pushing Red Button's self titled album by John P Dunphy. There's more reviews coming all the time. It turns out that a few of you have that Logitech MX700 Wireless Mouse that we spoke of yesterday. It's certainly a great piece of work. Also, while I'm at it, Bill Hunt, over at The Digital Bits has a 'priced right' combo SACD/DVD/DVD-Audio player link for you folks just waiting for the right reason to dive into the hi-rez pool. Best Buy has it for US$179. You won't be sorry. There's an Offspring title, Splinter, that will be made available on November 11 from Columbia Records. There is a brief update concerning the Bare Naked Ladies disc that is coming up on October 21. The special Limited Edition will contain the CD plus a DVD of the follwoing contents:
The upcoming Dave Matthews Band has just got itself a title. there is no other information available yet. The title is now Central Park and is scheduled for November 11. Thanks to TAP reader, Eric Mackenstadt for the heads up. We have a review for you. The Rolling Stones release today the first MultiChannel experience of "Sympathy For The Devil". That's full 5.1, baby. And it does rock!! Tomorrow, we have a review from John P Dunphy as well as more from myself. So check back. Hello all over again. Never let it be said that little bitty articles or mentions don't sell products. I read a little sidebar in Wired Magazine, my favourite magazine incidentally, and they mentioned a great cordless mouse (hate those bloody wires, I really do). They also mentioned that the speed is perfect for even Quake games. Well, that sold me. This $70 retail priced mouse by Logitech, the MX700 is one slick piece of machinery. And it feels so good to not have that 'wire tug'. You all know what I'm talking about. Works great and comes highly recommended. Oh, there were other things too. Yikes!! We are still hard at work on our TAPSheet which will list upcomings. We're going to start with SACDs/DVD-As until we get that caught up. DVDs after that. LPs and CDs. Imports. What the HELL am I getting myself into? It's available now for your download although largely unfinished. I do this in the hopes that you'll provide some feedback so that we can make this thing work for everyone. To access it, just point your mouse over the menu, TAPSheet and either 1) click through or 2) right-click and 'save target as'. This is an ongoing project. It's certainly an ambitious one. It's not completely ready now but will be in time. I may decide some of it to be too much but we'll see as we go along. The Hall of Fame ballots are out. On the list of nominees are:
I would be surprised if George Harrison did not join band mates, John and Paul, into the HoF. What have we dug up? There's a bunch of great news, too. So, here we go... More jazz titles come from Verve with Dinah Washington's After Hours with Miss D scheduled for February 10 and an Astrud Gilberto disc, Astrud for Lovers, destined for a January 27 date. Varese Sarabande will also release a Gene Clark & Carla Olsen, So Rebellious a Lover on the 4th of November. Sheryl Crow will have her 'best of' issued on November 4. DVDs There's a lot of you that have heard in the grapevine that there will be a Peter Gabriel DVD coming to us. Now you can actually pull out the pencil and lead in the the date as November 4.
