It's been a long day and there was no time to create a post. But I promise a mother of a post tomorrow. And...we have some surprises in store with an upcoming (not tomorrow) article and interview with Bob Ludwig of Gateway Mastering. This should be a great eye opener. And lots of fun. Check back tomorrow. We've formatted a few template pages so you should start to see some consistency throughout the site. We've a long way to go to bring it into alignment but we'll get there. OK, we've said enough about that. I promised you at least one review and I got that for you. It is an interesting, techno/trance flavoured disc from someone known as Celldweller. In any case, it's very listenable and will debut on February 11. Check that out before you leave. We have a flurry of expected reviews that we're working on. We have Tan Dun's "Water Passion"; Mark O'Connor's Hot Swing Trio "In Full Swing"; Count The Stars' "Never Be Taken Alive"; a short intro disc to Voivod's upcoming release. Voidvod is the new band that features Ex-Metallica's Jason Newsted. Also upcoming is Susan Tedeschi's "wait for me"; Jeffrey Gaines' upcoming Artemis release, "Toward The Sun"; TM Stevens' "Shocka Zooloo" and Prong's "100% Live". We're going to kick into high gear very soon with more hi resolution discs including Blue Oyster Cult's SACD release of "Agents of Fortune". How's that for some upcoming action?! Back to our look at what's upcoming. Since we haven't heard back from Warner as of yet, we have to rely on our other sources. Just as reliable but not as far reaching as WEA would be. We got the lead in; it's just taking a little longer than I had hoped. To tell the truth, I haven't looked for a while. I might even be surprised by what I'll see. So let's take a gander... I have had a lot of people ask about upcoming Music DVD Videos. I'm aware of a few that you might find interesting:
Since I see that there is a Gamma Ray DVD, I also note that there is a string of reissues presented in Digipaks. The collection is remastered. You can expect the following titles:
These titles release on March 18 from Noise Records. A few more notes before we call it a day. There is a Bing Crosby 2CD anthology of his Decca years coming out on April 8. Titled, "A Centennial Anthology of his Decca Recordings", it's a title that we're watching for. We'll inform you better as time gets closer. People anxiously awaiting The Who's "Who's Next" in the special 2CD format is being reminded...and reassured that the March 25 date is looking good. OK...we'll have a meager post for Thursday but a nice post and some reviews for Friday. I'm off to watch the Bulls play the LA Clippers tonight. See you tomorrow. Apologies all around. I got caught up with trying to finalize (finally) the overall look of the site so that I can get on with the business of bringing you what you come here for. You may notice the new things around here. We have sectioned the new reviews box to make it easier to distinquish the hi rez discs from the standard CD releases. We have expanded the real estate so as to put more on the front page. There are a few more things that we'll be doing but I think that I'm pretty satisfied. The important thing is that we are now officially part of The Digital Bits family. Thanks to Bill for his invaluable assistance and suggestions. But the best is yet to come. We are going full speed into interviews, more reviews, news and columns. We're here to give you the full scoop on upcoming discs of all types. Make us your early morning reading..hell, make us your start page. Again, not much of a post today but we'll be back tomorrow with a good post and a review, maybe two. Tomorrow. We're back from a Superbowl Sunday. We hope that you enjoyed yours. We did even though our team wasn't in it. But that's all ancient history now so let's look ahead and see what's on the agenda. It's pretty slow even though we haven't hit everything. So, as promised on Friday, I'm going to list all the upcoming EMI 'Classic Masters' and 'Greatest Hits'. There's a few so let's get started:
That's quite a projected list from EMI. As always, these are projected scheduling and very rudimentary information. That is to say, there is no detail until we get closer to release dates. Once we're close enough to those dates, we'll let you know what's on the disc and all of the specs. Remember, none of these dates are definite. As fast as I put 'em up, they could be put on hold or deleted. The nature of the business, I guess. There are some in this series that are on hold. They are:
We have a few more interesting items of note to add here. Don't forget The Music, UK's newest prog-like band. I posted Friday that they will be playing on The David Letterman Show, March 18. They will be performing "Take the Long Road and Walk It". These guys are very good. Wanna try them out? Click thru to their site and sample some of the MP3 and videos that they have available in abundance. Their debut disc, "The Music", as an enhanced disc with extras, will street on February 25, from Capitol Records. Fans of Ice Cube will be treated to 4 reissues, everyone of them in original and edited versions:
Ice Cube's "Video Collection, Vol 1" DVD has been put on hold. No word yet as to when it will be released. We'll let you know. Capitol Records will issue a large run, "Natalie Cole Anthology" on April 1. This should be good for the fans who have wanted a nice cross section of her work. We have two new reviews for the high resolutions formats. Bill Hunt of The Digital Bits has contributed two, one for each format. The first is David Bowie's "Heathen" in SACD while the second is the very good Dishwalla release, "Opaline" in DVD-Audio. Both reviews are candid and insightful. Check those out. We'll be back tomorrow with more reviews and, hopefully, Warner Bros updates. See you then. January 19 -25 Copyright © 2002 Matthew Rowe. All rights reserved.
