Talk to us!!!

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. I just stayed out of trouble myself. I did manage to view the NIN DVD: "Live:And All That Could Have Been" over the weekend as well as a few others. WOW!! It certainly rocks as a visual. As I said earlier, NIN is all about sound, if its studio and all about sound AND visual if its live. Needless to say, if you got a DVD player and you're a NIN fan...get it!!

Of course, this is old news to many of you but I'll comment just in case some of you haven't seen this. The good ole mosh pit, destined for a high profile "accident" finally got its wish. At an Eminem concert at JFK Stadium, about 2 dozen spirited fans got themselves injured in the mosh pit. Go figure.....And aside from a few honors and a Nate Dogg bust for pot, I have just showed you the reason I don't post on weekends.

In case some of you hadn't seen the itinerary for Bob Dylan's next tour leg, its right here.....Warner Brothers is putting out a compilation CD of Foghat's usual best, "The Essentials" on June 4th. It features remastered material. I still think that Warner can do better than that. How about a definitive Boxed set? That's what us fans really want.....Fans of the Pogues will see a new CD released on July 2, called "Streams of Whiskey". It features live material from 1991 in remastered form. Pogues were at their height at that times so the songs are good. A great selection including "If I Should Fall From Grace With God" and "Dirty Old Town".

Til Tomorrow............

I'm supposed to feel sorry for Mick Jagger and his now-hottie because of some written words got him all upset? All this after seeing those cut throat ticket prices? I don't think so. Rock stars and fans are miles apart...something wrong about that. Really wrong.....Fleetwood Mac is expecting to tour next summer, (God help us for THOSE ticket prices), sans Christine McVie. She has the sultry voice that is soo Mac if you ask me. Personally, I'd like to see Fleetwood Mac create new material, GOOD NEW MATERIAL, and quit riding off their old stuff. Next thing you know, I'll see them at the OC County Fair.....I know, I know. You're askin'...what pissed him off? Nothing! Just some observations. I'm saddened to see many of my fave old rock bands being ejected from their labels for non-sales. Many of them attaching to unknown labels like Starfish Records or Beantree Records. Got nothing to do with me being pissed...just a sad observation. Has music changed? Yes. For the better? Yes. Are today's musical tastes distracted by soundtrack rock? You bet!! I love the music but fear lots of it has little staying power. By that, I mean, lots of this stuff will not be remembered in the future. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit, made an open plea for the return of Wes Borland. He did this by making Borland's personal email address available to the masses, asking them to bombard Borland with email, begging him to come back. It apparently was enormously in favour of his NOT returning to Limp Bizkit. It also ticked Borland to have his email swamped with whatevers?!.....Ozzy gets a throat infection which caused him to not appear at his own OzzFest in Europe. We wish him well. In other Ozzy notes, The "Osbournes" have finally debuted in England. No word on the recpetion but I'm betting it's gonna be high.....

July 31st is the set date for Linkin Park's remix CD. Entitled "Reanimation", it will be a revisiting of "Hybrid Theory".....Bjork is making a big mistake with letting fans create her greatest hits CD. I don't mind an extra disc with that thought in mind but the inclusion of particular material for any band is a carefully engineered process that should not be left in the hands of the masses. Really!! Change your mind, Bjork!!.....I have a gripe with the record industry who is after their latest, AudioGalaxy. First off, I don't care how these systems thrive or die, I really don't. I'm a buyer from the old school. I want art. I want notes. I want a booklet. BUT, you are NOT making available much of the old catalog. Make it available...I'll buy!!

June 18th CD releases may end up being a bit boring. There is a notable, maybe two in there but sparse is the picture. Come back tomorrow for the release info. Have a good night and see ya then!!

Not much news today and I suppose that's good news. This site is close to making some more changes, becoming the site that it really wants to be. It has taken a bit of time but we're getting there.

Here's a bit of a shocker. Twiggy Ramirez of Marilyn Manson has quit the band. Twiggy has been with the band from the beginning but, according to Manson, could not gel with the band's new direction. Now I'm curious to hear and see what drove Twiggy off..... MTV finally signs the Osbornes to season 2 adding an additional 10 episodes to the sparse 10 episodes for season one. Twenty episodes in all. Filming starts next month for fall release. I'm looking forward to the series already. I'm especially looking forward to the uncensored DVD set that is gonna come out, so I'm told by reliable sources. How much fun is that going to be?

As promised, the release data for June 18th. Be aware, it is sparse. I may need to update as the week goes on but.....

The Roth/Hagar Sans Halen Tour may pick up a second leg to travel the eastern areas of the US.....Eminem sells 284,000 units for the week beginning Sunday, for Eminem, that is. Traditional release day is Tuesday for everyone else but because of rampant piracy, the Eminem group elected to release early before sales slipped.....If you're a Kansas fan, you get a 'best of' set. The set, "Ultimate Kansas" features 26 songs culled from 10 albums. The set will also include rare cuts and selected favourites of the band. The 2 CD compilation will release July 2. A summer tour begins May 31st at the Greek Theatre in LA......Poor Lance of NSync. The Russians say that he won't get to ride the big bad spaceship. Wha' happened? Collectively now..awwwwwww!!......Chris Robinson of Black Crowes hops out to do a solo tour. 5 dates to see if he got it going on to continue.......That's it.

I'm done! See ya tomorrow.....

Hi folks. Good to be back amongst friends. I've got a few reviews in the burner for weekend release. One of them, a friend of MusicTAP, and, ironically, shares my last name. He is, however, no relation to me. This should eliminate all talk about special favours. Steven Rowe has created some very fresh, very good musical pieces that journey into the psyche of humanity. Collectively, the pieces become "Parallel", Steven Rowe's newly released CD. Flavoured with keyboards, Parallel becomes an interesting conceptualization of soul drenched sadness. Watch for the review.

I've had a busy few nights of DVD viewing. But what great DVDs they are. NIN, Last Waltz, Roger Waters. You can't go wrong.

EMI will be reissuing David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars" on July 16th commemorating the 30th anniversary of the album. What's even better is that it will include a bonus disc of outtakes and demos from the sessions. There is a released track listing for the discs:

This news is so good, its going in the pipe.

The Sans Halen Tour featuring Hagar and Roth started last night to a helluva great set by both artists. Both sets averaged 80 minutes apiece and pleased the concert goers with one wearing a TShirt backed with "Who the @#$% is Eddie Van Halen?" I think Eddie shoulda seen this coming. I think that he needs to hire one of these boys back. Maybe both of them. Now THAT would rock AND be the concert event of the year......Courtney Love gets to court next month against Universal Records. The date is scheduled to countersue Universal's suit against Love for Breach of Contract....The Rolling Stones will reissue 22 of their albums in SACD format. This is a boon to the format who competes against DVD audio......Hey, that's it!! See you tomorrow...............

May 31 2002

Alright!! The weekend is upon us and that is always reason to celebrate. I'm going to enjoy it. A little basketball, a lot of baseball, a cookout with friends and whatever else happens. And it looks to be nice here in gorgeous So California. I also hope to attend a movie or two.

Looks like Scott Stapp of Creed is cleared to tour. The tour begins July 11th and will run for 70 shows before it ends.....And the on again, off again, on again saga of Lance Bass in outer space is a funny one. Almost Scooby Dooish. Well...I guess, good luck one way or the other......Alien Ant Farm, in wake of the bus accident and sustained injuries have cancelled all remaining tour dates through September. Dryden, the singer may have to undergo back surgery to correct his injury in the May 22 accident......Here's the list of Rolling Stones albums to get the remastered treatment onto new technology, namely the SACD disc featuring the dual layering technique:

Kelly Osbourne will sing at the MTV Music Awards. One can only hope that she doesn't become a laughingstock as she strives to take advantage of her newfound notoriety stemming from the success of MTV's hit "The Osbournes".....Garbage's drummer, Butch Vig, has been excused for touring for the time being due to a nagging ear infection. He returns when healed but cannot play now as the pain makes his ears very sensitive to noise. I can vouch for all of this as I too suffer from such a malady. Painful and disruptive. Get well, buddy!!

See you Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a great weekend.
