After the courts, with Judge Patel forcing the labels to prove their ownership of each and every contested song, Napster has asked to be allowed to resume their wildly popular free service. they were told "NO!"..... First it's a vehement denial of the breakup of Britney's romance with JTimberlake of NSync and now Britney is NOT in an intense relationship with anyone. Not that we care but did she or didn't she?....In other NSync news, Lance Bass auditioned as a cosmonaut as in Russian cosmonaut...A woman is suing Celine Dion's husband accusing him of rape....The 10 cancelled dates of the Elton John/Billy Joel concerts postponed because of laryngitis has been rescheduled. Click the link for scheduling info....Another Britney tidbit for ya. Seems as if she went out on the town and left a candle burning in her apartment. It lit a wall and had to be extinguished by the FD. Damn kids!!.....Everyone now knows the Oscar results. I didn't choose so well. But I never do.....Bono of U2 defends REM's Peter Buck in the light of his recent tirade in the air. Bono states, for the record, that Buck is a quiet and peaceful man.....ZZ Top's Dusty Hill gets married in Houston...May 14th brings an expanded boxed set of the Cranberries first 4 albums....Ozzy is surprised at the success of "The Osbournes".....Peter Gabriel is likely to tour.....Aerosmith is releasing a Greatest Hits package in the summer with a new song or two included. No word as to the extent of the hits. They have also recorded a song for the upcoming "Spiderman" movie....EMI Records is renegotiating Robbie Williams contract to keep him on the label.....No new surprises on Billboard. The top five spots are: 1 to "O Brother" soundtrack with a break in at 2 for B2K. Alan Jackson's "Drive"climbs from 5 to sit at 3 while Alanis Morisette's "Under Rug Swept" drops from 3 to 4 in her third week. Brandy's "Full Moon" drops from 2 to 5....A retrospective live CD for Jethro Tull is gearing for release. Called "Living With the Past", it features 21 tracks recorded in various places including home demos.....U2 in the studios recording new material for a possible release later this year according to their website.....Santana putting the final touches on "Shaman", his followup to the spectacular "Supernatural". It is hoped to be released by midsummer.....Led Zeppelin allegedly sued Atlantic Records stating that they were ripped off of royalties for several of their songs.

Ramblings

Blade II Rocks but is no worthy successor to Blade. It had a great, potentially rockin', concept for a plot but opted for a MTV styled fightfest with plenty of cool music to shore it up. (My opinion, of course)....Hope everyone had a fun Oscar weekend and that many of you were thrilled with the results....I just received Patti Smith's "Land (1975 - 2002)", a collection of her hits as voted by fans and some rare material. Watch for a review of the CD.

Ramblings

The spectacular black tape for a blue girl's new CD, "the scavenger bride"review is up. Take time to read it and, hopefully, buy it. Ordered online at Projekt will net you the disc on April 2, when it will pre-ship. The disc streets on April 23.....I have a cruise vacation coming up during the days of Mar 30 - Apr 7. There will NOT be any news updates or review postings during this period.

Now today is more like it. At least we got a few more things to talk about. A moment of silence for not only Dudley Moore and Milton Berle but also Motley Crue's drummer, Randy Castillo, who died at age 50 He also played for Ozzy Osbourne once upon a time.....Elvis Costello is doing a small tour of theatres. If you can see him, I suggest doing so as he is great. I admit to seeing him in his younger days and with the Attractions at the height of his popularity (Armed Forces) so really can't vouch for his shows now. But he rocked back then.....There is a new David Bowie CD scheduled for release on June 11. The disc, on Bowie's own ISO label, will be distributed by Sony....Pearl Jam is releasing a CD of rarities by the end of the year. It will be comprised of B-sides, fan club singles and outtakes.....Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedys fame is suing his former bandmates alleging that they are touring again with a Biafra imposter and using his name and likeness to hype the tour.....The courts have allowed Napster permission to view documents used by the labels in their dealings with installing their own music sharing service.....Pete Townshend, when asked about his hearing told news that he can hear OK. He also explains that it is why he left the Who in the first place, to protect what was left.....Now Steven Tyler wants to go to space....Today sure makes up for yesterday but you don't wanna know all of this stuff.

Ramblings

Check out the mysterious black water phenomenon off the coast of Florida.....After the vacation, Mar 30-Apr 07, we'll be back with improvements. This site is in a state of flux and only will get better until we reach a state of info bliss...shhheeeessshhh!!! Seriously, we will be changing the site in ways to improve it over the next few months. I like the overall presentation but realize that some of it is perhaps too much. In the interest of providing the readers with more concise info, I will be changing the way info is presented. The reviews stay the same, but other things will disappear and become more integrated in the daily 'Notables'. Have a nice evening.

The Now! series at number 9 has debuted at the 1 slot on Billboard's Top 200 edging out R. Kelly & Jay-Z's entry 'The Best Of Both Worlds' keeping it at 2. The 3rd spot keeps 'O Brother' in the top 5 while the 4th and 5th hosts new entries as well. Glenn Lewis and his 'World Outside My Window' at 4 and, at 5, Jimmy Buffett's ' Far Side Of The World'.....We reported in yesterday's post that David Bowie has scheduled a new CD. What we didn't tell you was how good it's expected to be. Bowie has teamed up with old, old pal, Tony Visconti, producer of some of Bowie's best and most interesting music, "Scary Monsters", "Heroes" and others. Folks, a return to Bowie of old is healthy for music, real healthy.....Arrow93's Grapevine reports that the Jefferson Starship is going to tour.....The RIAA posted March Gold/Platinum figures on their site.....The Grammys are heading back to New York for their presentation.....On May 3rd, the 50th anniversary of American Bandstand will air.....Looks like EMI's continued house cleaning could impact Perry Farrell as a solo act. It also was reported that Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger barely missed the axe. McCartney due to very sluggish sales of his last, 'Driving Rain' and his Wings retrospective, which sank out of sight.....

Heart goes on a sizeable tour this year. It's been some time since we have seen them on tour that I thought that it would bear mentioning.....It is now definite. The Grammys will move back to New York after 4 years here in LA.....Country cutie, Jo Dee Messina has met with Hollywood (whomever that may be) to discuss options.....A French tunesmith has alleged that Eminem has stolen one of his songs. Now the courts get to hash it out....After being bulldozed by his uncle's bull, it is determined that Lyle Lovett will need upwards of 6 months to recuperate. Lovett broke his lower leg after going to his uncle's rescue.....Because of the Cornell/Rage bowout of the OzzFest, Ozzy has put up a ballot on his website to ask fans to help decide the replacement.....Rumour has it that, in addition to the possibility of Perry Farrell (Jane's Addiction/Porno for Pyros) being axed from the EMI roster, Iggy Pop and Ben Harper may feel the breeze as well.....The Replacements are thinking over a possible reunion.....The judge in Marilyn Manson's sexual misconduct case has refused to disqualify himself. The prosecution has asked him to excuse himself after he indicated that he will fine Manson $4000 and be done with it. (AP).....Kazaa, the file sharing service, was given a breath of air as the upper Dutch courts overturned the ruling handed down by the lower courts against Kazaa.....Phil Selway, drummer of Radiohead, is running in the London Marathon and is hoping that fans will sponsor him.
