Talk to us!!!

Hey....what about Sir Keith Richards. That's what I'm talkin' about....The BIG news today is a possible tour, hinted at by Little Steven Van Zandt, of Bruce Springsteen AND the E Street Band. Those shows will sell out in a hurry, I've no doubt. I keep the proverbial eye out for the news and report here when I find out. Little Steven left us with this observation, and I reprint here cuz it has a whole lotta meaning..."I feel the last generation or two of kids have never really heard rock 'n' roll and it just bothers me," "It's all been hard rock and rap and pop, and there's nothing wrong with that, but I think it's too limited in terms of choices. Maybe a kid wants to grow up to be Limp Bizkit or Britney. That's fine, but maybe that kid wants to be the Kinks or the Who or a girl wants to be Dusty Springfield. They don't have those choices anymore, and I really don't like that."

I guess that Britney is revving to film another movie. This one about NASCAR. I'm shruggin' here. Really shruggin'...really really shruggin'. Plus, she's publicly flirting with Hugh Grant. Shrug again....Has anyone heard the Basement Jaxx and their "Where's Your Head At"....better, has anyone seen the video...ultracool!! BBC reports that musicians have more grey matter in that part of the brain that is involved in processing music.

Tentative October 29th release date for Type O Negative's newest. Remember, tomorrow...or today, depending on when you read this..18th of June brings a slew of releases. Highlights include the new Papa Roach, "lovehatetragedy", 2 David Sylvian reissues, "Camphor", an instrumental collection, and "Damage", a collaboration with Robert Fripp. Simple Minds' "Cry", an anthology from Ohio Players, "Essentials" collections from FireFall, Alice Cooper and Devo. Lovespirals comes out with anticipated "Windblown Kiss". These are highlights designed to give you an idea of the music coming out. Slip down to June 11th post for the full listings. Watch tomorrow's post for release data for July 9th. See? Something to look forward to. I'm nearing completion of the new look for this site and the movement of data tot he new templates. Just a few more ideas to incorporate.

AudioGalaxy has reached a settlement with RIAA. Simply, AG agrees to filter music, limiting the choices only to those artists that allow download.

I apologize for this evening's late late post. I had some things to complete but came right here when I was finished. ...Tomorrow!

We've got a whole collection of CDs just received and we have to buckle down and do our work. So you can expect a gaggle of reviews. Thanks to Victory Records, Projekt and Mazur PR.

Happy Birthday to Paul McCartney, who turns 60 today. Here's something I may have not mentioned. Motown released a 2 CD anthology of Rick James today featuring 28 tracks covering over 30 years. A great pickup for James and/or Motown fans...... We have an interesting piece for you concerning Toto (Hold the Line). They have recorded and are releasing an album of cover songs. Ok...next? ......2 SoCal music fans have filed suit against the labels that release copy protected CD citing that the protection creates a defective product. This could prove to be interesting if it busts out a forum that details exactly how much the CDs audio is impacted.

Ok...release data for the week of July 9th.

Judas Priest fans, get ready for a tour. Beginning July 5th and running through August 21, the tour represents 35 dates. They will also release a live DVD on July23. Loose news of a Cult DVD, "Live in Los Angeles" but seemingly released in Japan on July 24th. Waiting for region 1 release data for that title.

Back tomorrow.

June 19 2002

Welcome back. We have a few things for you. U.D.O. has released their eighth album entitled "Man and Machine" featuring 11 new tracks of crunching German metal. The Wallflowers is readying their "Red Letter Days" for a Sept 24th release date. A tour is being bandied about to support the CD.

Billy Joel, at 53, has checked into a clinic that caters to the entertainment elite for 'personal problems'. Read the story here and draw your own conclusions.....Marilyn Manson gives in to allegations made against him by a security guard at one of his shows.....Rolling Stones add a few more dates to their already burgeoning tour.....Uh-oh....we now KNOW who the Devil is. Michael Jackson, ever his angelic self, has called Tommy Mottola, head of Sony Records, the Devil. Guess its got something to do with poor album sales. I bet Mariah agrees with MJ though. Someone call the Star (the magazine, not Michael) and let them know who the Devil is.

The BBC is reporting that California has passed a legislative bill that will limit the length of time that labels can sign contracts with its top stars.

Busy night ahead so I bid you adieu. Catch you later!!

June 20 2002

What a slow day today it is. Actually, what a slow week its been, news wise. Fans of Supertramp will be happy to know that they not only have a new album coming out in March called "Slow Motion" but have a tour planned in the US as well. The link shows very little US activity but it will update. use the Pollstar utility at the bottom of this page to check on any band and their current tour status....Gun n Roses is prepping a US tour from September to December while you overseas fans get it earlier. If you Springsteen fans want a peek at Bruce and the boys new album art, click here to take a gander.

I hope for a better post tomorrow and a few reviews. I'm off for a graduation. See you back tomorrow.

June 21 2002

Hey...we're back for another great weekend. I hope that yours is going to be great. I know I HAVE to be busy what with a number of things that HAS to be done....uhh...I have to get out to see "Minority Report" too.

Word has it that Green Day is releasing a CD full of BSides, an import only song, and a few single cuts, and an unreleased song, 15 tracks in all. The CD, "Shenanigans"will be available July 2 along with GFR's "Live :71 Tour" and other great music. On July 16th, Chicago will release their first three albums in remastered format. In addition to the music being released on the 30th, there will also be four remastered releases of Supertramp albums. "Brother, Where You Bound", "Famous Last Words", "Paris" and " Free as a Bird". Also look for Yes and their new Box Set entitled "In a Word: Yes (1969-)."

Uh-oh...WPLJ in NY filled the airwaves with the sounds of Bruce Springsteen this morning....his new stuff, that is. Of course, Columbia immediately slapped them with a cease and desist order. There is talk of a major concert announcement on Monday that has eluded me....... When I stumble on it, I'll let you know right here....P Diddy, in a spin with Arista hads bought back his Bad Boy Entertainment label...... Who here is anxiously awaiting the new Jane's Addiction CD? To help ease the wait, JA is doing a little touring, mostly in other countries. There is a date in Las Vegas and one in San Francisco. Watch for more extensive touring nearing CD release and after....There is a new CD release imminent for System of a Down featuring "Toxicity" outtakes. There is no release date as of yet.

I may find my way back this weekend with some more things. In any case, have a super weekend.
