Alan Jackson remains firmly entrenched in the Number 1 spot with 189,000 units followed by Creed for Number 2 with sales of 109,000. Linkin Park comes in at 3 with 91,000 and followed by Ludacris (4) and Nickelback (5), sales of 86,000 and 78,000 respectively. The rest of the scoop can be found here.

It is being reported that The Boss is recording tracks with the E Street Band. It is still in the rumour stage and only time will tell. Please, please, please......

Hall of Fame 2002 Inductees [04:18 PM PST February 05, 2002]

I was so excited about the Heads last night that I absolutely neglected to list the inductees for this year's Hall of Fame. Here they are. In the Performer category, 1) Isaac Hayes, 2) Brenda Lee, 3)Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, 4) Gene Pitney, 5) Ramones and 6) The Talking Heads. In the Sideman category, Chet Atkins, and in the Non-Performer category, Jim Stewart. I realize that this is old news but thought a refresher wouldn't hurt, particularly after the Heads announcement.

CSN&Y Announce Tour [03:47 PM PST February 05, 2002]

Tour of America begins February 6 in Michigan's Palace of Auburn Hills. The tour runs 39 dates and ends April 25. Neil Young says it's just to have a good time. There is no new CD out nor is one anticipated although Young has a CD in the works, tentatively titled "Are You Passionate?"

Talking Heads Reform!! [08:58 PM PST February 04, 2002]

Have I got some news? Yeah, I do. It's reported on The Talking Heads site that the original lineup of Talking Heads will reform for the March 18th Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They will perform two songs, not yet decided. Did I mention that the Heads are being inducted into the Hall of Fame? Well, they are. The ceremony will be aired on VH1 March 20th at 9PM (ET/PT). Who's anxious?

Launch has issued an article on Nickleback's management who has sued the band for Breach of Contract. The suit alleges that the management company, Amar Management, is responsible for the growth and popularity of Nickelback. Yeahhh, right.

Auditions to replace Wes Borland, who left last year, was held yesterday in Atlanta. Over 5000 hopefuls showed up for even just a chance to jam with Durst and Co.

Yahoo/Reuters reports that the famous nightclub, The Stone Pony, home to such rock luminaries like SouthSide Johnny and the Asbury Jukes and, most notably, Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi. It appears that the once bustling area is so depressed that the only traffic actually comes from The Pony. Buildings in disrepair, etc...BUT, it looks like the fans of the Pony have banded to help save it.

Grammy.com releases the list of the nominees for the 44th Annual Grammy Awards. You can get the PDF file with the complete list. I am providing no comment on the list except...GO REM for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for "Imitation of Life." The event will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 27.

U2 picks up Eight (8) Nominations |9:33 AM PST January 07,2002|

The Grammys are being very loving towards U2 as it lavishes 8 nominations for the band. Already called Band of the Year in many publications; this win will solidify what most of us already know. U2 is the band of the year. Kudos to a band that knows how to reintroduce themselves back into our hearts with a superb CD and also on how to market themselves.

O Brother Gets Tribute on Grammys |10:36 PM PST February 03, 2002|

For some real cool news, O Brother will get a tribute spot on the Grammys that will feature EmmyLou Harris, Alison Krauss, Ralph Stanley, Gillian Welch and The Soggy Bottom Boys (the real fellers). The "O Brother" soundtrack is up for Album of the Year along with several tracks from the CD also competing for various awards. Alison Krauss is also up for several categories, including one from this CD.

Billboard is reporting that Van Halen has split with their record company of 23 years, Warner Brothers. It is apparently confirmed by the webmaster of Van Halen's web site. No word on whether we can expect a full reunion with David Lee Roth. I and a million others would love to see this reunion take place. Oh, and a CD full of material with the original lineup? Smokin'!!

MSNBC is reporting a Daily Telegraph story that Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger will perform together along with Phil Collins to celebrate the 50th year of rule under Queen Elizabeth. The concert takes place June 3rd, 2002.
