For many, The Moody Blues held a lofty spot in their music listening. They were separate in many many ways from the normal Rock band. Their first thing was that they could create extraordinary music. The second is that their philosophic outlook on life and where we were going were well-reflected in the songs they released. As a result, they became one of Rock’s major offerings because they provided more than the usual.

One of those classics in the revered catalog of The Moody Blues is Days Of Future Passed. I know I speak for many in that this band, and that album provided hours of thought and contemplation. The album generated “Nights In White Satin”, and to a lesser extent, the FM bit of “Tuesday Afternoon”.

Of course, Days Of Future Passed has been revisited often. At one point, it was converted to SACD (still a great way to listen to it). But the album now celebrates a 50th Anniversary. And so:

On November 17, watch for a 2CD/DVD 50th Anniversary of Days Of Future Passed with a certain distinction. It will contain the first CD offering of the original 1967 Stereo mix, which, as the story says, was damaged and irreparable until technology provided a way. Plus, there will be bonuses. The first 2 CDs will provide the original album, and a selection of alternate mixes, a non-orchestral version of “The Sun Set”, and a handful of A and B sides. The included DVD will provide access to high resolution files that include 5,1 Surround mixes, and a 96kHz/24-bit Stereo mix of the original 1967 master.

There’s no doubt that the accompanying booklet will be rich with words and photos.
